Dr. Rajinder Singh Andev

Dr Rajinder Singh Andev is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Clinical/Departmental Lead at the Rheumatology Unit of Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, a nationally recognised centre for rheumatology care. He provides specialist diagnosis and management for a wide range of joint, bone, and autoimmune conditions, combining advanced clinical expertise with a personalised, patient-centred approach.

His clinical practice covers the full spectrum of rheumatic disease, including common conditions such as osteoarthritis, gout, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoporosis, as well as more complex immune-mediated diseases such as vasculitis and Behçet’s disease. 

Dr Andev has a specialist focus on young adult rheumatology and established a dedicated service to support patients transitioning from paediatric to adult care, ensuring continuity and long-term disease management. He also provides specialist care for patients with rheumatic conditions during pregnancy, working closely with obstetric teams at Birmingham Women's Hospital to support safe pre-conception planning, pregnancy management, and postnatal care.

He trained at the University of Oxford, where he developed a strong foundation in evidence-based and research-driven clinical practice. He remains actively involved in clinical research as a site lead and recruiter, contributing to ongoing studies that advance rheumatology treatment.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Andev contributes to medical education through teaching roles at both the Universities of Oxford and Birmingham, supporting the training of future doctors. He also serves on the national Prescribing Safety Assessment Board, which oversees prescribing examinations for UK medical students.

In addition, he works as an expert witness in rheumatology, producing independent, court-compliant medical reports on complex cases. His work in this area is recognised for its clarity, objectivity, and clinical integrity.
