Dr Rachel Lennon

Dr Rachel Lennon is a highly distinguished Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist specialising in the diagnosis, management, and overall care of infants, children, and young people with kidney conditions. Committed to providing empathetic, child-centred care, Dr Lennon works closely with families to ensure every patient receives comprehensive support throughout their clinical journey.

Dr Lennon earned her Bachelor of Medical Science in 1992 and graduated with her medical degree (BMBS) from Nottingham University Medical School in 1994. She attained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 1997, later obtaining a PhD focusing on renal cell biology in 2008. That same year, she completed her Certificate of Completion of Training in Paediatrics and Paediatric Nephrology, and was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2010.

In her clinical practice, Dr Lennon focuses on complex renal disorders, with particular expertise in glomerular diseases, nephrotic syndrome, and genetic kidney conditions such as Alport syndrome. She leads dedicated clinical services for families affected by inherited renal disorders, offering expert diagnostic evaluations and long-term care plans tailored to each child's specific developmental and health requirements.

In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr Lennon is a Professor of Nephrology, directing research into kidney filter biology, basement membrane maintenance, and the underlying mechanisms of glomerular damage. Her academic efforts aim to identify novel therapeutic targets and translate laboratory discoveries directly into improved diagnostics and care for paediatric patients.
