Miss Rachel Healy

Miss Rachel Healy is an esteemed Consultant Ophthalmologist who provides patient-centred care across general ophthalmology and sub-specialist eye care. Known for her meticulous clinical approach and reassuring communication style, she works closely with each patient to deliver tailored diagnostic assessments and evidence-based treatment plans. Her clinical focus encompasses a comprehensive range of sight-preserving therapies, with particular dedication to managing both routine and complex ocular conditions.

Miss Healy possesses extensive expertise in the medical, laser, and surgical management of glaucoma, as well as modern cataract surgery. Her clinical practice involves advanced surgical techniques such as trabeculectomy, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, micro-stent implantations, selective laser trabeculoplasty, and YAG laser capsulotomy. Additionally, she offers premium intraocular lens implantation to optimise visual outcomes for patients undergoing cataract procedures, ensuring that individual visual requirements are thoughtfully addressed.

Miss Healy began her higher education at the University of Bristol, graduating with First Class Honours in Chemistry in 2007. She subsequently obtained her medical degree, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, from Newcastle University in 2013. Following her core training, she completed specialist ophthalmic training across the South West of England, culminating in a sub-specialty glaucoma fellowship and an advanced observership focusing on complex glaucoma management. She later earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Exeter in 2021 and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Miss Healy remains actively involved in medical research and professional education. She has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and presented at international ophthalmic conferences on topics including cataract surgery outcomes and retinal conditions. Her commitment to education extends to training healthcare professionals, helping to raise clinical standards and advance patient care within Ophthalmology.
