About Professor Xavier Griffin
Professor Xavier Griffin is an experienced surgeon dealing with hip pain, broken bones and complications form treatments for both. He is a recognised international specialist in the treatment of severe pelvic bone and hip socket injuries - fixing and reconstructing the injuries. As part of his training and practice he is expert in hip replacements for arthritis and dealing with problematic hip replacements which are loose, broken or infected. He also treats broken bones, and muscle injuries in both adults and children.
Professor Xavier Griffin is based in London and Oxford, where he sees private patients at several renowned hospitals, including Nuffield Health The Manor Hospital and the London Clinic. He is the current President of the UK Orthopaedic Trauma Society and Chair of the SICOT Grants Awards Committee. He holds the Inaugural Chair of the new clinical and academic collaboration in orthopaedic surgery at the esteemed Barts and The London School of Medicine.

After completing his medical degree at the University of Oxford in 2002, Professor Griffin underwent ten years of intensive training in trauma and orthopaedics in Bristol and the West Midlands. He then pursued fellowship training in Australia, where he was trained by world-leading experts in orthopaedic surgery, with a particular focus on the treatment of pelvic and hip socket injuries. In 2012, he earned his PhD from the University of Warwick and went on to become a Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2014.

Professor Griffin is an excellent consultant and orthopaedic surgeon. He performed total hip replacement surgery on my left hip following a diagnosis of OA and hip dysplasia. He was always very professional, super supportive, empathetic and very clear in his explanations. I was in constant pain and living a very restricted life. He really helped ease my severe anxiety about the surgery and I am so so grateful to him. The surgery was a huge success and could not have gone any better. Professor Griffin did a fantastic job, resulting in perfect alignment and zero post-op issues. My recovery is progressing very well. Thank you for everything. You have given me my life back! I would highly recommend Prof Griffin to anyone considering THR surgery.

The surgeon couldn’t have been nicer. Everything was explained in detail and a future plan made.
Professor Griffin listened intently, checked my physical strength on the affected side. Asked questions, to make sure he understood what I said & also to rule out things it might be. He decided blood tests & an MRI were the next steps in finding out what caused my mobility problem. He was very thorough.
I found Professor Griffin to be very friendly& explained everything very clearly .He came to a diagnosis which I agreed with & the proposed treatment & prognosis very quickly & gave me great confidence .Just a pity that he is not on the open referral scheme for BUPA so I could not claim on my insurance .
I got the early and my appointment was only slightly later than expected. Prof Griffin was affable and examined me in a few minutes before recommending me to do an MRI
Didn't go off on medical speak, but answered all my questions in easy to understand English. Came away feeling pretty good about having a hip replacement operation. Never thought I'd say that beforehand !!
