Professor Jonathan Waxman trained at University College and University College Hospital, London. He was the recipient of several scholarships and prizes as an undergraduate and postgraduate. He is currently Emeritus Professor of Oncology at Imperial College London. He specialises in urological oncology and in particular prostate cacner. This specialisation stems from his early research years where he developed the LHRH anlaoguesfor the tretament of prostate cancer which repalced orchiectomy as the main hormonal therapy for prostate cancer.
He founded the Prostate Cancer Charity which will raise £40m in this current financial year. Prior to joining the Hammersmith Hospital, he was an Imperial Cancer Research Fund Research Fellow at St Bartholomew's Hospital.
He has written over 400 research papers and book chapters, has authored eleven medical books, three novels, a patient information book and a legal text book. He writes on healthcare policy for major newspapers.
