Mr David Johnson is a Consultant orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in knee surgery. Mr Johnson graduated from St Andrews University, followed by Manchester University. He completed his orthopaedic training in Manchester and undertook a fellowship in knee surgery here. He also obtained a Masters degree from the University of Salford after researching the outcomes of knee surgery, and he continues to research in this field.
Mr Johnson has experience in the treatment of all knee-related issues, the most common of which include sports injuries, cartilage tearing, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. He regularly performs procedures including knee arthroscopy, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, total knee replacement, and uni-compartmental (partial) knee replacement. He has an additional interest in complex knee replacement surgery, multiple knee ligament injuries and surgery for instability of the patella-femoral joint. He accepts paediatric patients over the age of 12.
Mr Johnson teaches junior doctors, medical students, and non-medical staff. He also teaches several courses relating to knee surgery across the country. He is the NW orthopaedic specialist trainee research coordinator and the Chair of the Greater Manchester Orthopaedic Alliance (GMOA).
