Mr Pankaj Sharma

Mr Pankaj Sharma is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary and the lead in medical teaching at Manchester Medical School. He graduated from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School in 1997 and completed his higher surgical training in London and Cardiff. He further honed his skills with fellowships in Arthroscopic Surgery and Joint Replacement Surgery in Toronto, Canada, and is fully registered with the GMC.

Mr Sharma specialises in managing sports injuries, hip and knee conditions, and trauma cases. His expertise includes arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, ligament reconstruction, cartilage repair, and the surgical management of arthritis, particularly in younger patients. He also runs an acute knee injury clinic at Manchester Royal Infirmary and has experience treating conditions such as knee pain, joint pain, lower limb trauma, and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

During his fellowship in Toronto, he worked with professional athletes from teams like the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs, further refining his skills. Mr Sharma is also actively involved in research, has presented at both national and international conferences, and has published numerous articles in renowned orthopaedic journals. Additionally, he has contributed chapters to orthopaedic textbooks and authored a guide for trainee surgeons preparing for the FRCS examination.
