Dr Prab Prabhakar

Dr Prab Prabhakar is a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist and Honorary Associate Professor in Paediatric Neurology. They are the Clinical Lead for Neurology. Dr Prabhakar is a general neurologist who sees a wide variety of childhood neurological illnesses. Their expertise covers epilepsy, stroke, demyelinating disorders, headaches and head injuries (both accidental and non-accidental). Dr Prabhakar is also experienced in the multidisciplinary assessment of complex neurometabolic and genetic conditions across the age range. Patients can be seen as both inpatients and outpatients.

Dr Prabhakar also holds the position of Education Lead for Post Graduate Exams. They are an examiner for the Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health (RCPCH).

Dr Prabhakar qualified from Madras University in Chennai in 1993. They undertook General Paediatric, Neonatal and Community paediatric training in various hospitals across England. Subsequently, they underwent training in Paediatric Neurology in London, being appointed as a consultant in 2007.

Dr Prabhakar is a council member of BASH (British Association of Study of Headaches) and a member of the Child and Adolescent, the paediatric representative in the classification subcommittee of the International Headache Society. Their current research commitment is in drug trials in both the acute and prophylactic treatment of migraine.
