Dr Poonam Parekh

Dr. Poonam Parekh is a highly skilled Consultant Radiologist with a wealth of experience in diagnosing and treating gynaecological conditions such as Endometriosis, Fibroids, Pelvic Pain, Pelvic Infections, Fertility, and Uterine Anomalies. She is also highly skilled in Gynae-oncology, with a particular focus on the diagnosis and follow-up of Endometrial, Ovarian, and Cervical Cancers. Dr. Parekh regularly participates in the Gynae Oncology MDT, ensuring her patients receive the most comprehensive care available.

Dr. Parekh has been a Consultant Radiologist at University Hospitals Birmingham for nearly 10 years, during which time she has earned a reputation for her hard work and innovative contributions to the field of Radiology. Her contributions have resulted in numerous local clinical excellence awards, and she continues to receive excellent feedback from both her patients and colleagues.

Dr. Parekh has been leading the Gynae Radiology service at UHB for the past few years and is also a keen trainer, serving as one of the West Midlands Gynae Radiology Academy Leads. She performs Ultrasound Transabdominal and Transvaginal Pelvis scans for all Gynae and fertility-related conditions to a high standard, providing detailed reports and recommendations to her patients.

Parekh's expertise also extends to paediatric gynaecology, scanning peri or postmenopausal patients on HRT, as well as Gynae-urology-related disorders. Additionally, she is skilled in performing Ultrasound of the abdomen for general abdominal pain, assessment of the solid abdominal organs, gall bladder assessment, and to assess the renal tract and bladder.
