Dr Balraj Dhesi

Dr Balraj Dhesi is an experienced Consultant Radiologist at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, and sees private patients at The Harborne Hospital, The Priory Hospital, Spire Parkway Hospital and Spire Little Aston Hospital.

He specialises in uroradiology, colorectal imaging, inflammatory bowel disease, and peritoneal imaging, and is dedicated to delivering advanced diagnostic and interventional imaging services, including image-guided biopsies and drain insertions.

Dr Dhesi graduated with honours in Medicine from the University of Birmingham in 2011. He completed his Foundation training and Radiology training in the West Midlands, developing extensive expertise in abdominal imaging. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists.

He is currently Subspecialty Lead for Genitourinary Radiology at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Dhesi has a particular clinical interest in prostate cancer imaging. He reports a high volume of multiparametric (mpMRI) and biparametric (bpMRI) prostate MRI scans, and performs transperineal prostate biopsies under local anaesthetic (LATP). He recently co-organised a national training course in this technique in collaboration with the British Society of Urogenital Radiology.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Dhesi holds honorary academic roles as Clinical Tutor at the University of Birmingham and Specialist Lecturer at Birmingham City University. He also serves on the committee of the British Society of Urogenital Radiology, and is organising the Annual Scientific Meeting for 2026.
