Dr Pooja Shah

Dr Pooja Shah is an experienced Consultant Anaesthetist and Pain Management Physician who provides comprehensive care for individuals experiencing acute, chronic, and cancer-related pain. Recognised for her patient-centred approach, Dr Shah focuses on understanding the root cause of discomfort and delivering tailored, evidence-based management plans to improve overall quality of life and functional independence. She combines advanced diagnostic skills with multimodal therapies to support individuals through every stage of their treatment journey.

In her clinical practice, Dr Shah provides general and regional anaesthesia across a wide range of surgical disciplines, including urology, gynaecology, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, and general surgery. Her sub-speciality expertise spans complex chronic pain, neuropathic pain, complex regional pain syndrome, neck pain, lower back pain, joint pain, and musculoskeletal disorders. She is highly skilled in performing targeted interventional pain procedures, such as spinal injections, lumbar facet medial branch blocks, peripheral nerve injections, joint injections, and radiofrequency treatments.

Dr Shah earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Sheffield in 2009, followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership in Clinical Medicine from the University of Leeds in 2015. She completed her specialist training in Anaesthetics at Barts and the London School of Anaesthesia, followed by an advanced pain fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and University College London Hospital. Her credentials include Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA), achieved in 2019, and Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FFPMRCA), awarded in 2021.

Beyond her direct clinical care, Dr Shah is dedicated to medical education, professional training, and clinical research. She serves as a Faculty Tutor in Pain Medicine and as a Social Media Editor for a leading clinical education publication within her field. In these roles, she contributes to postgraduate teaching and continuous professional development, promoting high standards of perioperative safety and patient care across the specialty.
