Dr Philip Abata

Dr Philip Abata is a highly dedicated Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who is committed to providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality care to women. With a clinical focus on both obstetrics and gynaecology, he has substantial experience in managing high-risk cases, including complex deliveries and supporting women with significant comorbidities. He is passionate about improving women's health outcomes and ensuring that every patient receives personalised, reassuring care throughout their healthcare journey.

In addition to his clinical duties, Dr Abata is deeply involved in medical education and clinical leadership. He leads the local Induction of Labour service and is a key figure in multidisciplinary education, directing a practical obstetric multi-professional training programme. As an Educational Supervisor, he is dedicated to mentoring and nurturing the next generation of clinicians, fostering a collaborative environment that prioritises patient safety and continuous clinical improvement.

Dr Abata completed his initial medical training in Nigeria, where he became a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons within the Faculty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2012. Following his relocation to the United Kingdom, he undertook further training and achieved membership in the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2016. He is also recognised as a Distinguished Life Member of the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons, reflecting his commitment to advanced surgical techniques and research.
