Dr Peter Mbanu

Dr Peter Mbanu is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist specialising in the comprehensive management of lower gastrointestinal malignancies, with particular expertise in rectal, anal, and bowel cancers. He provides advanced non-surgical cancer treatment using evidence-based systemic anti-cancer therapies and modern radiation techniques tailored to individual patient needs. In addition to treating gastrointestinal cancers, Dr Mbanu serves as a Clinical Lead for acute oncology services, ensuring prompt and coordinated multidisciplinary care for patients presenting with complex cancer-related complications or urgent clinical conditions.

Dr Mbanu completed his undergraduate medical degree with Honours at the University of Liverpool in 2006. He subsequently completed postgraduate medical training and specialist Clinical Oncology higher training in the North West of England. Committing to scientific advancement in his field, he conducted higher academic research into organ preservation strategies for rectal cancer, earning a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Manchester in 2022. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR).

A central focus of Dr Mbanu's clinical work and academic research is organ preservation for patients diagnosed with rectal cancer.
