Dr Paul Gallagher

Dr Paul Gallagher is a Consultant General Surgeon with a specialist focus on Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery and emergency surgical management. He provides comprehensive surgical assessment and care for patients presenting with a wide range of abdominal conditions. Known for his reassuring and professional approach, Dr Gallagher prioritises clear communication and individualised treatment plans to ensure optimal patient safety and high-quality surgical outcomes.

Dr Gallagher earned his medical degree from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne before completing higher surgical training in the Northern region of the United Kingdom. To further refine his clinical skills, he completed a specialist surgical fellowship in Adelaide, Australia, focusing on advanced upper gastrointestinal procedures. He holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers (FFSTed).

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Gallagher holds significant leadership and educational positions. He serves as an Examiner for the Intercollegiate Examination in General Surgery and has previously worked as a Training Programme Director and Regional Surgical Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. As Head of School of Surgery, he oversees the training and development of future surgical specialists, maintaining rigorous standards across the medical profession.
