Dr Paul Baker

Dr Paul Baker is a highly accomplished Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in advanced hip and knee surgery. With a clinical focus on treating patients with degenerative joint conditions, he is dedicated to restoring mobility and improving quality of life. His clinical expertise encompasses primary and revision hip and knee replacement procedures, including partial knee replacements and state-of-the-art robotic-assisted knee surgery. He also has a strong interest in managing complex cases, such as prosthetic joint infections, lower limb trauma, and periprosthetic fractures around the hip and knee.

Dr Baker completed his medical training at Newcastle University, earning his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. Committed to academic excellence, he went on to obtain a Master of Science in Evidence Based Practice (Orthopaedics) in 2007 and a Medical Doctorate in 2013. His extensive postgraduate training also includes a Diploma in Statistics and a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Research. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Baker is a prominent figure in orthopaedic research and national healthcare leadership. He serves as the Specialty Lead for Orthopaedics at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is an active Committee Member for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. His research contributions are highly regarded, having previously served as a National Joint Registry Research Fellow and a visiting British Orthopaedic Association ABC Fellow. He continues to lead national clinical trials and studies aimed at improving patient outcomes and supporting individuals returning to work after joint replacement surgery.
