Mr Jafri is a Consultant in Trauma and Lower Limb (Hip & Knee) Replacement and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Newcastle with a specialist interest in revision surgery and knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery).
His undergraduate education was at the Universities of Birmingham and Newcastle and he completed training in the North of England. After qualifying as a Consultant Mr Jafri undertook a 1 year fellowship in Auckland, New Zealand where further specialised in hip and knee joint replacement surgery, revision (re-do) surgery, key hole surgery to the knee and trauma surgery. He is appointed as a Consultant Lower Limb and Trauma Surgeon at the University Hospital of North Tees and Hartlepool and Honorary Senior Clinical lecturer at the University of Newcastle. His areas of interest include the management and revision of hips and knees hips and peri-prosthetic fractures treatment.
He has been appointed as an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer for the University of Newcastle for his role in teaching and research.
He also has a keen interest in Sports Medicine and in 2020 completed The FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine.

Mr Jafri was very kind and listened to all of my worries regarding my upcoming surgery for a total knee replacement. He made me feel very at ease and i went into the surgery feeling very positive. He explained in detail about the surgery and things i must do post-surgery, whilst giving me the reassurance that if i had any concerns i could contact him at the Nuffield, which was really nice. I had a very good and positive experience.

Mr Anwar has been very professional and an excellent consultant, polite, caring and answered all my questions. I had a replacement hip inserted and after 3 weeks, Had no pain and walking without pain, I highly recommend him.

Mr Anwar Jafri explained from the beginning what I needed regarding both hips being replaced and within what time frame. I had so much confidence in him. Now both have been replaced and have been very successful thanks to Mr Jafri, I can start living a full life again. Thank you

After receiving a hip replacement from Mr Jafri I can honestly say it has resulted in giving me back my life. Previously I was unable to walk for more then 30 minutes without stopping for a break due to the pain in my hip. The operation was quick and I was kept informed throughout. All the staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. After following the advice post operation I was back walking the hills with my little terrier and enjoying motorcycle rides out with my friends. If you require hip replacement do not hesitate,.. you will not regret it and Mr Jafri and his team were beyond expectations. Thank you, All

Orthopaedic SurgeryI known Mr Jafri for many years both during training and now as an esteemed colleague in North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Trust and Nuffield Tees Hospital. Mr Jafri is a well liked consultant by the staff. He is excellent surgeon and I will have no hesitation in recommending my family member to him for hip and knee surgery. Mr Jafri is known for his meticulous assessment and explanation to patients of their condition. His bedside manners is next to none and relation with colleagues is spotless. We both discuss a number of difficult cases in hip and knee with each other and makes a plan for the patients. Mr Jafri is our local expert in Hip and Knee replacement and have performed them in big numbers with excellent results.
