About Mr Parthasarathi Das

Mr Parthasarathi Das
Consultant Robotic & Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgeon

Lead for Colorectal Cancer Surgery – Luton and Dunstable University Hospital

Mr Parthasarathi Das is a leading consultant colorectal surgeon offering advanced robotic and laparoscopic procedures to private patients across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and North London. As the clinical lead for colorectal cancer surgery at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, he performs a high volume of robotic colorectal cancer operations, combining cutting-edge technology with meticulous technique to deliver optimal outcomes and faster recovery.

Mr Das is also a regional authority in robotic and laparoscopic hernia surgery, with particular expertise in complex abdominal wall and parastomal hernias. He is currently the only surgeon in southern England offering laparoscopic anterior and posterior component separation for large, multi-recurrent hernias. For patients with stomas, he performs robotic parastomal hernia repair using the Sugarbaker technique—a specialised approach that offers durable reinforcement and excellent long-term results.

In addition to surgical treatment, Mr Das provides diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy, including polyp removal, biopsy, and endoscopic management of bleeding or inflammation. These procedures are delivered with a focus on early detection, precision, and patient comfort.

His specialist areas include:

  • Robotic colorectal cancer surgery and minimally invasive treatment for diverticulosis and inflammatory bowel disease
  • Robotic and laparoscopic hernia repair, including groin, abdominal, parastomal, and multi-recurrent cases
  • Robotic Sugarbaker technique for parastomal hernia repair
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy, including polypectomy and biopsy
  • Laser treatment for haemorrhoids and anal fistula
  • Management of ano-rectal conditions such as fissures and warts
  • Collaborative surgery for advanced gynaecological conditions, including endometriosis and complex hysterectomies

With over 30 years of surgical experience, Mr Das first qualified in 1992 and completed a prestigious three-year research fellowship at St Mark’s Hospital, London—an internationally renowned centre for intestinal and colorectal disease. His consultant roles across London and Surrey have shaped a career defined by innovation, precision, and patient-centred care.

Mr Das is committed to helping patients make informed decisions and receive the highest standard of surgical treatment. Private consultations are available for those seeking expert advice, second opinions, or advanced robotic procedures in colorectal and hernia surgery, including robotic Sugarbaker repair and colonoscopy services.

Mr Parthasarathi Das was most professional. He listened to details of my problem, and explained the investigative procedure he was going to use. There was a very pleasant nurse chaperone, and the procedure was done with sensitivity and good practice. He explained afterwards what he had found, and explained the path forward, and ensured that I understood the procedure of the colonoscopy that would be done when there was an appointment available. I was very happy to be given a date today, which relieved me very much. I felt very relaxed and reassured with Mr. Das.

Mr Das was extremely easy to talk to and listened to what I said. Made some sensible suggestions of investigations which I will follow. Was able to let me speak to the consultant urologist who was in on the day and this was very helpful.

Having major surgery to remove a tumour from my colon has been one of the most frightening experiences of my life. However, I feel incredibly fortunate to have been referred to Mr Das as my surgeon. From our very first meeting, he was kind, compassionate, and deeply reassuring. He took the time to explain everything thoroughly, which immediately put me at ease during such a difficult and uncertain time. Mr Das carefully walked me through the procedure, outlining both the process and the associated risks with clarity and honesty. While he was clear about the seriousness of the operation, his expertise and calm confidence reassured me that I was in the safest possible hands. Following the surgery, Mr Das visited me every day. His consistent presence and reassurance that my recovery was progressing as expected made a tremendous difference. Knowing that what I was experiencing was normal helped ease my worries and gave me real peace of mind. He also made it clear that my discharge would only happen when we were both confident I was ready, which made me feel truly cared for as a patient. The medical team supporting him at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital were equally outstanding, providing attentive and compassionate care throughout my stay. Even after I returned home, Mr Das continued to check on my progress with personal phone calls, which I find incredibly thoughtful and reassuring. This level of care goes far beyond my expectations and has made me feel genuinely supported during my recovery. Given the circumstances, my entire experience to date has been overwhelmingly pos...
