Ms Sangeeta Maini has specialist experience in Ear, Nose & Throat surgery with particular clinical interest in ear problems including hearing and balance disorders, eustachian tube problems (after flights or diving), nose and sinus disorders, children's ENT disorders and facial pain management.
Over the past 20 years she has been specialising in this field mainly in the UK but has also gained considerable experience in various parts of the world. Research interests are in hearing preservation surgery, allergic rhinitis, nasal surgery and Tinnitus. Ms Maini has published extensively in these areas and has won several prizes at major surgical meetings.
She has presented her papers nationally and internationally and has several international publications. She has qualifications from the UK, India, Australia and the USA. Ms Maini enjoys teaching and has taught medical students and post-graduate students in various roles within the UK, Australia and India. She is presently an educational and clinical supervisor for training doctors as well as being involved in national and international teaching courses.

As a surgical Trainee - I worked in UK, India and Australia (after being awarded the very competetive national TWJ fellowship) . The initial years of my training in the UK provided exposure to all aspects of ORL-HNS and helped me to obtain the DLO (RCS- Eng), FRCS-ENT (Ed) andFRCS(ORL-HNS). Working in busy units, I gained good surgical experience by performing many routine operations. I under went Higher Surgical Training in ORL-HNS in the South West (Bristol) region between May 2001 to October 2007. I passed the intercollegiate FRCS(ORL) exam in April 2005 and did the prestigious TWJ clinical fellowship at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear hospital in Melbourne, Australia, July 2006- August 2007. I have been a consultant with sub-specialist interest in otology and rhinology for 10 years. For the last 20 years I have also been actively involved in teaching medical students as an ENT trainee specialist registrar and honorary
senior lecturer with the Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol and Aberdeen universities
(medical school).
As a trainee I worked in busy Ear, Nose, Throat - Head & neck cancer units in
UK, India and Australia including tertiary referral centres Birmingham Queen
Elizabeth University Hospital, South Mead Hospital, Royal Bristol Children's
Hospital in Bristol, Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital in Melbourne,
Sassoon University Teaching Hospital in
Pune and NHS District General Hospitals in Newport, Gloucester, Bath, Bristol,
Derby, Burton on Trent, Bodelwyddan& Stafford. During the training I was
fortunate to work with excellent ENT
surgeons. I have a sub-specialist interest in Otology and Rhinology and ENT
Allergy treatment.
I have an insight into the health systems
in Australia, UK, USA and India (briefly in the States where I did clinical
attachments). My organisational and leadership skills are clearly demonstrated from the several
projects I have successfully completed.
The departments I have worked in have had a strong lead in audit and I been
involved in several audit projects. I have also been keenly involved in formal
and informal teaching for nursing staff, medical students, SHO's, foundation
year trainees and specialist registrars.
My research experience includes a higher research degree (MS), several
publications including RCT's in indexed journals, Cochrane review (protocol
published on Cochrane website) and a published thesis. I am now Principal
investigator in a major multinational clinical trial on septoplasty, funded
nationally by NIHR. I am also a regular journal reviewer for acto otolaryngologica
journal widely read bimonthly Internationally Journal. My research
has been presented nationally and internationally including Europe, Canada, US, India, Malaysia and Australia.
I have over 50 peer reviewed publications.
I am educational superviser for trainees since 2015. Also I am an examiner for
the European board exams EBEORL- HNS since nov 2019 and JCIE (Joint committee
of intercollegiate exams ) ENT UK since April 2018.
