About Mr Richard Grogan
Mr Grogan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Honorary Lecturer with over a decade's worth of experience within the field, specialising in hip and knee replacements. After gaining his medical qualifications from the University of Nottingham in 1992, Richard went on to complete sub-speciality fellowship training for arthroscopic knee surgery, hip replacement and resurfacing and knee replacement. His fellowship also focused on enhanced recovery, customised patient technology and computer navigation, for the latest interventions to improve patient outcomes. Richard completed his fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons in 2002.
After completing his fellowship and postgraduate diploma at the University of Leeds, he was appointed his Consultant post at Bradford Infirmary in 2005, where he has since become Clinical Lead, performing thousands of hip and knee replacements. Mr Grogan's surgeries are of the highest standard, with data showing high excellent outcomes and recovery rates. Richard has since been appointed Clinical Governance Lead at the Yorkshire Clinic and Clinical Director of Orthopaedics at the Bradford Teaching Hospitals Trust, where he maintains the management of trauma patients showing his dedication to the field. Mr Grogan also supervises and mentors undergraduate medical students and surgical trainees, under his role s Honorary Senior Lecturer at University of Leeds.

Mr Grogan resurfaced one of my hips earlier this year. Within two hours of the operation, the physiotherapist had me walking and climbing stairs (carefully) and now less than eight weeks on, I am already getting back to hill walking and cycling (and increasing my mileage daily). Given the limitations Mr Grogan had to work with (I was borderline over whether the smallest available resurfacing prosthetic would fit), I am sure it is due to his skill that the operation has been such a success. This, allied with his friendly manner and a willingness to discuss and explain options and technicalities, made the whole process of undergoing major surgery as easy as it could possibly be.

From the initial consultation, Mr Grogan put me at ease, explaining the options available to me in an easy to understand manner. He was super professional at all times and extremely knowledgeable
I am 6 months on from a hip resurfacing with Mr Grogan and the outcome is unbelievable. I've made a practically full return to the sports I love, running, cycling, 5 aside and even skiing, with no pain at all. Mr Grogan was first rate throughout, from the initial consultations around diagnosis and options, to the surgery and then the post op advice. I'm very grateful for the care I have received which has been first rate. Thank you.
