Mr. Janos T. Patko completed his medical training in 1991 and obtained his postgraduate qualification in Orthopaedics in 1998. His basic surgical training was undertaken in Hull and East Riding, followed by advanced fellowship training in Lower Limb Arthroplasty in Bradford. He further enhanced his expertise through fellowships at several prestigious institutions, including the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, Karlsbad Langensteinbach in Germany, and the Spinal Foundation in Rochdale.

Appointed to Barnsley General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in April 2010, Mr. Patko serves as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in complex primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty.

He performs the full spectrum of hip arthroplasty procedures, including:

• MAKO Robotic arm Assited Total Hip replacement 
• Birmingham Hip Resurfacing
• Cemented and uncemented total hip replacements
• Total hip replacement for patients with fractured neck of femur
• Use of ceramic bearings in younger patients

In revision hip surgery, Mr. Patko employs a range of advanced surgical techniques such as extended trochanteric osteotomies, trochanteric slide exposures, and pelvic reconstruction using mesh, reinforcement rings, and impaction bone grafting. He is proficient in both cemented and uncemented solutions, including the use of bulk allografts and modular femoral implants to manage varying degrees of femoral bone loss.

In the realm of knee arthroplasty, he performs:

• MAKO Robotic arm assited Total Knee Arthroplasty
• Minimally invasive unicompartmental knee replacements
• Patellofemoral arthroplasties
• Condylar and unicondylar knee replacements
• Complex revision procedures using condylar and hinged implants for severe deformities

Mr. Patko is also experienced in routine knee arthroscopy, including meniscectomy procedures. He incorporates navigation and robotic-assisted technology into his surgical practice to enhance precision and outcomes.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Patko has authored several peer-reviewed publications and has presented extensively at national and international conferences, contributing to the advancement of orthopaedic surgical practice.
