“  May I again thank you and all involved in my treatment. There is no price that can be put on eyesight, and to me the prospect of blindness is terrifying. That I am now writing this email using both eyes is testament to the great work you have done. I shall be eternally grateful.   “

My detached retina was an emergency referred to the Royal Free by A&E at the Whittington. Mr Mitry fitted my emergency hour plus operation into a full day of scheduled operations. The hospital's Ophthalmology was obviously very busy that day. Because the operation was carried out under a local anaesthetic I listened to the whole thing and was impressed by the way he ran the large operating theatre team as he worked..

I must admit, I am guilty (and probably not alone in my guilt) of having taken my vision for granted. Upon learning of my injury, I was filled with trepidation about the future of my eyesight and the prospect of needing surgery to correct what had turned out to be quite a serious situation. Mr Mitry allayed my fears very quickly and armed me with all of the important information with his gentle yet very honest approach. Having come highly recommended, I can admit to having had high expectations but these were effortlessly surpassed. The smoothness of my recovery is testament to his expertise, care and dexterity, and for this, I am truly thankful. He has done a fantastic job with my eyes and I am confident he has ensured me the very best outcome I could have hoped for, despite the seriousness of my case. I would not hesitate in recommending Mr Mitry to anybody, not simply because he is an elite clinician (and he really is), but also because he is a jolly decent human being. You have all my thanks.

Mr Mitry provided a very good service. He listened to the problem, asked relevant questions, diagnosed, and offered a range of treatments with clear explanations of levels of success and appropriateness of treatment. The follow up was of equally high quality service.

The procedure (cataract) went extremely well. I was very nervous at the idea of undergoing this procedure but Dr Mitry took the time to answer all my questions & to explain in details the pros & cons. Dr Mitry ; the team are very pro and I am very happy I decided to undergo this procedure, as I feel I am seeing true colours again.

I had refractive lens surgery in December 2020. A daunting thought to have someone performing any type of procedure on your eyes, but I immediately felt at ease as Dr Mitry talked me through the procedure and put my mind at rest. He was calming and reassuring and it was clear he knew exactly what he was doing and had a wealth of knowledge. This might sound like an obvious requirement, but when you are about to put the future of your sight in someone’s hands, these are the types of thoughts that go through your head! We quickly got into a conversation about rugby and before I knew it the procedure was over.
