An excellent consultant with a very caring attitude and a friendly approach. He always made sufficient time to discuss any concerns I had and ensured I was given the appropriate information about my cataract operations. He made me feel at ease and confident to go ahead with the eye surgery which was quick and painless. I previously had significant astigmatism and this has been well corrected which I did not think would be possible. I am now driving without glasses which is great and can see everything much clearer. If you need a cataract operation just go for it and I would highly recommend Mr. Mitry to perform the surgery.

For years I had contemplated the prospect of corrective eye surgery and its undeniable benefits, not least given that two members of my family had undergone the procedure and were ecstatic about the results, but my fears about what could go wrong, as there is always a possibility of them doing so when it comes to surgery, elective or otherwise, made me postpone. I'm not entirely sure what made me change my mind to go through with it in November 2019, but I can say for certain that it was the best decision I've ever made. It cannot be overstated how much of my confidence in going through with the procedure was due to the care I received under Dr Danny Mitry. During the initial consultation at Optical Express, I was provided with a short bio of his history in the field of ophthalmology and his pedigree spoke for itself. Even before we met in person, his manner and palpable confidence in his abilities as we spoke over the phone made me feel at ease. He was well spoken and descriptive about the specificities of the procedure without being overtly formal or clinical, and was more than happy to answer any questions I had. On the day of my procedure I met with both Dr Mitry and the surgical team assisting him and their collective bedside manner, as it were, was phenomenal across the board. Before the treatment Dr Mitry re-checked my clinical measurements and was satisfied that we could proceed with the surgery. I was then taken to the laser suite where I lay on the bed with my head placed comfortably in the moulded rest as the procedure was explained to me step by step. My eyes were then prepared by instilling anaesthetic eye drops which completely numbed them. The surgeon placed an eyelid holder over one eye as my opposite eye was covered to eliminate blinking, the compulsion to do so having already been assuaged by the eye drops. A ring was placed on the first eye, keeping it in place with gentle pressure which gradually increased and made my vision go grey for approximately 20 seconds which the surgeon created the LASIK corneal flap. I was then told to look directly into the red light as the laser went to work before the corneal flap was replaced. The same procedure was then completed on the opposite eye. Overall the treatment for both eyes took approximately 15 minutes. I was then ushered into a dark rest area to take the strain off my photosensitive eyes. I did feel a granular sensation in them as the anaesthetic wore off but it was in no way painful, more distracting than anything. My vision as quite hazy but I was assured this was completely normal. Shortly after Dr Mitry checked my eyes to assess the condition of the corneal flaps and was happy with the results. I was then discharged and went directly home to sleep for a few hours as advised while wearing the eye shield provided to prevent me from inadvertently interfering with the healing process as I slept. I was provided with a course of both lubricating and antibiotic eye drops over the next week, and was advised to use the lubricating drops for longer if necessary as dryness can be an issue. I was elated by how, even after only a period of 24 hours, my eyesight had significantly improved, a sentiment shared by those at Optical Express when I attended my post op consultation the day following the procedure. My rate of convalescence was sustained and seemed to be above average according to the literature. My vision is better now than it had been prior to the surgery, even with the assistance of prescription lenses, and as someone who was never crazy about inserting contact lenses, it's provided me with a newfound confidence in my appearance. It seems silly, even trivial, how life changing it is to be able to wake and see one's environs resolve into acute clarity without having to reach for one's glasses, which had been a reflex for so many years. I have since raved to friends and colleagues alike about the benefits of the procedure, supported by my personal experience, mentioning Dr Mitry by name, and there's no doubt in my mind that anyone lucky enough to have him as their surgeon will receive an unparalleled quality of care and expertise.
My overall experience for my laser eye surgery was fantastic. I was explained how the procedure would happen. He reassured me and calmed my nerves on the day of surgery
I can only say I wish I had this procedure done long before I did. The whole experience, from the consultation to the procedure was very easy and quick. I spoke to Danny (my surgeon) before I had the procedure over the phone, who put my mind at rest and answered any questions that i had. I have not worn my glasses since the day I had my surgery and I feel like I have been given my vision back (well I have). This is the best thing I have ever done, especially as my profession is a full-time hairdressing tutor to SEN college kids. Danny you are a hero in my eyes (excuse the pun).
I have recently had cataract surgery to the left eye with a 'distance' lens to enable me to go without glasses for driving/tv etc. I shall be returning in a few weeks' time for the other eye to have cataract surgery and a lens for reading which should mean I can do away with all glasses - wonderful! Danny Mitry was wonderful . He is very thorough and patient and explaining things in great detail to me including the choice I had to make as to what sort of procedure to have with regard to the lenses. I felt completely confident in him and had the procedure with just a local anaesthetic and the whole thing was seamless. After a couple of days of being a bit frail was able to carry on as normal, driving etc. When resting was able to watch the tennis on tv - beautiful clear picture. I have just returned from seeing Mr. Mitry having this eye signed off and looking forward to seeing him soon for the other eye. I would absolutely recommend Danny Mitry for any eye treatment and couldn't have had a better experience.
Mr Mitry was outstanding throughout. Kind, caring, considerate and expert. The procedure was quick and painless, I had both eyes done at the same time and I now have perfect vision!!! Eternally grateful!!
I had multifocal lens replacement done by Danny via Optical Express. The whole process was highly professional with a great outcome. Pre-treatment and follow-ups were very thorough and any problems were immediately addressed. My vision improved very quickly and is now better than 20-20 vision. Overall I am very pleased and would highly recommend the team.
Danny conducted both the pre-surgery consultations and the actual surgery in the perfect manner. I had LASIK eye design surgery and could not be happier with the results. My first contact with Danny came when he called me for a consultation, he discussed the risks and benefits in a balanced and easy to understand way. Explaining the finer points of the paper work and ensuring any questions I had were answered. On the day of the surgery we went through the process of the procedure before it occurred, I felt so out at ease by his confidence and knowledge that I had no worries at all entering into the surgery suite. His friendly manner helped ensure a great surgery day experience. The actual surgery was quick, professional and painless. I would recommend both the procedure and Dr Mitry to anyone who was even considering the option.
Mr Danny Mitry is an amazing ophthalmology. He lasered my eyes a week ago and everything is fine. We had a friendly and expert call before the surgery day. He answered all my questions clearly so I felt very safe. Thank you very much for make my vision amazing
Dr Danny Mitry Called me in on the Monday consultation. Checked my eyes. Asked did I have any concerns. I was flying coming back to UK day before Operation, Gave me drops and said keep hydrated. Concerns after operation I might need reading glasses for menu reading or reading text messages. Day of Operation. I got called in Quick check of my eyes to see if ok to operate on. Operation itself was quick, everything was talked through. Drops, the device to stop me blinking, the patch over my eye. Told me that going to cut the lens. Everything will go dark. Don’t worry. Then look at the red light. Done this to the other eye. Step by step procedure. After Operation saw Dr Mitry told me everything went well. I could see straight away the difference it bit hazy/cloudy like those old 70’s 80’s pubs when smoking was allowed in public for my generation. Sat in recovery room. Explained what to do for eye drops I’ve told people at work and outside socialising that I couldn’t find fault With anything. Wished I had it done sooner. First time I’ve not worn glasses/contact lenses since 1985. Thank you Dr Danny Mitry
Danny performed my laser eye surgery prior to Christmas. It was quite simply life-altering. I went from being -2.5 and -2.75 (contact lens prescription) to perfect vision. Eyes were very scratchy and sore for about 6 hours afterwards but have been perfect ever since. Would have no reservations recommending this procedure to others.
I was completely satisfied with my experience. There were no surprises. Follow up was first class. highly recommend Mr M for this procedure.
he is such a skillful and professional consultant, with good explanation and polite ,i am very satisfy with the surgery he had done for me
Many thanks for my surgery
Friendly and intelligent surgeon made me feel at ease and confident about my procedure. Would highly recommend.
I didn't expect it the surgery will be so smooth and painless , thanks to Mr Danny Mitry who was very good . gave me more confidence before the surgery . he was very clear and easy to understand all steps from the beginning . surgery took few minutes no pain no stress I would recommended Mr Danny Mitry to anyone looking for skillful ophthalmologist surgeon . I am very happy with my vision now . thanks of Mr Danny .
My experience under Dr Mitry's care was excellent. He was very clear, professional and pleasant. My treatment was done perfectly and I had a speedy recovery. I would wholeheartedly recommend him!
I am most grateful for the treatment I received from Mr Mitry and his team for my cataract surgery. During the consultation everything was clearly explained to me. The removal of the cataracts was painless, and the follow up appointment was quick and stress free. My vision is so much clearer, and I am absolutely delighted with the results. I would definitely recommend Mr Mitry and his team for this procedure.
Danny was clear about the procedure and the possible outcomes. All went according to plan. The whole experience was very efficient and Mr Mitry was most caring.
Lucky to have had Dr Mitry perform my surgery as he was calm, collected and informative
Dr Mitry performed my Lasik eye surgery 2 weeks ago, he talked me through the procedure step by step, answered all my questions and helped put my mind at ease. Once in the theatre he talked me through each step, explaining what was going on and how long it would take. He definitely helped me to relax which made it all a bit easier to follow instructions etc. I would definitely recommended Danny to anyone considering Lasik surgery (which I would also recommended as it is amazing).
Lasik idesign, Danny made me feel at ease and confident in his skills. I was well prepared for the procedure and after a thorough check of my eyes on the day to make sure my vision would be corrected adequately. The procedure was quick and painless, a small amount of discomfort but well worth it. So glad to be rid of my contact lenses!
I cannot thank Danny enough. I am extremely pleased with the whole experience of my refractive lens exchange and even more with the results. I have just had my 4 week check up and I have better than 20/20 vision. Before my surgery I was told that I would have my own lenses replaced with multi focal lenses The whole process regarding the surgery was explained very clearly to me and a week before surgery Danny phoned me to explain further and answer any questions I had. He explained in such a reassuring manner and was extremely kind. On the day of surgery I was fairly nervous but I needn’t have been. All staff were extremely efficient and caring. I had a few more tests and had my eyes numbed. Before I actually had my surgery I met Danny who again explained what would happen and answered any final questions I may have had. I was sedated by an anaesthetist, I felt so calm. First I had surgery on my right eye which was successful so Danny scrubbed up again and performed surgery on my left eye. The surgery was over with so quickly, I had no discomfort or frightening moments and felt very reassured by Danny throughout the whole process. 2 hours after surgery I knew that my distance vision had already improved. Having eye surgery has certainly been very worthwhile and has improved the quality of my life. I don’t have to wear glasses anymore at all and I have written this review on my iPhone. I can’t thank Danny enough for what he’s done for me. Not only a very good eye surgeon but also a kind and caring man.
Mr Mitry exercised courtesy and compassion towards me throughout the consultations I had with him and during the surgery he performed. The treatment I had was for a Vitrectomy and epiretinal membrane peel. At all times he projected a professional manner, being both attentive and patient towards me whilst showing a high degree of medical knowledge of my condition and the requirements to correct it. I never felt rushed as Mr Mitry instilled trust and was always confident in his approach to me and my condition.
I had lenses replacement surgery on July 1st and 2nd so just 1 month post surgery. Dr Danny Mitry was excellent really put me at ease from our first meeting, explained everything in great detail. The procedure is painless a little bit uncomfortable for the first few days but one expects that. During surgery Danny talked to me letting me know how it was going, which I found very reassuring. I have 20 20 vision I am experiencing dry eye which involves putting in drops for a few weeks extra Otherwise all is good
Having recent reflective eye surgery I found the complete procedure a very rewarding experience from initial phone call though till aftercare the surgery was very professional in all aspects. The surgeon Mr Danny Mitry put you at ease from the moment you spoke to him on the phone answering all questions fully and to my satisfaction. The private hospital staff where all very professional and attentive again answering all my questions fully and again putting myself at total ease. The operation performed by Mr Mitry was a 12 minute procedure ( with a great bedside manner ) was totally pain free and I do mean pain free Aftercare again was very professional once at home with all follow up appointments completed when due. Overall the experience was more than what I thought it was going to be a total success from start to finish.
I am so pleased I have had the lens replacement surgery because I now have 2020 vision. I was a bit nervous after having signed up for it. A week before the procedure Mr Mitry rung me and first checked why I wanted the surgery. He assured me the LTS will meet my needs and have multiple benefits such as no more glasses and no cataracts in the future. He sensed my anxiety but his calm and confident speech comforted me and reduced my fear. He said he was going to take good care of my eyes. That comforted me more. On the actual day he explained what would happen such as one eye then the next and in total of 20 minutes. I told him I didn’t want an anaesthetic injection so he told me he will tell the anaesthetist. So I had eye drops not injection. The actual procedure was so simple. I went in and my eye was covered around it and then I sensed some movement on one eye followed by the other and then I was wheeled out. Immediately I was sitting and given a cup of teas and that was it. I kept looking at the mirror because there was no scar or blood or cut! I was so amazed and there was no pain at all. From the next morning I was able to see and read without glasses. Mr Mitry obviously is very skilled at this. He has been excellent and always answered my queries quickly on email. I highly recommend him.
I had corrective surgery about a month ago, and yes I would recommend it, it has been life changing. Prior to the OP I had a consult with Dr Mitry, which I found very useful as it gave me an opportunity to speak with the actual surgeon. He was very friendly and professional. On the day of the surgery again I had the opportunity to speak with Dr Mitry, he explained to me exactly what to expect in every eventuality which was reassuring. During the surgery Dr Mitry was reassuring and I felt very safe. Throughout the whole experience I felt Dr Mitry was very approachable and professional.
The treatment I had was great. Danny called me a week before to explain everything. On the day the treatment and process was very good and totally pain free. My vision is now 90% better than it was. I find my long and close vision are 100% better. The mid range is not so good and night driving is also no so good with the headlights and street lights giving off a large glow. Maybe this will get better in time as it has only been 3 weeks since my treatment. The after treatment I have received has been great to. One the following day then the following week then on the forth week. All in all a great experience I hope my mid range improves in time to give a 100% fix.
Danny and his team put me at ease right from the start and went in for the surgery feeling very confident. All my questions were answered fully and have full trust with Danny completely. I don’t need to wear glasses anymore and at 71 this is a good achievement. I highly recommend Danny Mitry and his team.
From my consultation through to my surgery the care and communication was exceptional. My surgeon explained everything thoroughly in layman's terms so that there was no misunderstanding. I went into my surgery totally relaxed and confident that every care had been taken to ensure a positive outcome. I am thrilled with the result. Better than 20/20 vision with no glasses in sight. I would highly recommend the lens replacement surgery. It has changed my life for the better
I recently got my surgery done and it was really good experience for me. Dr Mitry is really good eye surgeon helped me before nd after surgery. He explained the procedure very well and cleared all my doubts. Over all procedure for surgery took maximum 10mints. Aftercare medications was also provided. My vision is now 20/20 and feel free from glasses. Thanks dr. Mitry
Danny has a friendly, professional manner which puts you at ease. He explained the procedure in a 40 minute telephone conversation and answers any questions or concerns you may have. Having this conversation makes you feel as you know Danny when you meet him. On the day of the operation Danny made sure that I was relaxed and comfortable with what was going to happen. The surgery was over before I knew it. Danny checked that I was recovering well before I was returned to my room. Follow up appointments have been attentive and personal. Danny made me feel that I could contact him directly if I had any concerns. I would be happy to recommend this surgeon.
It is my pleasure to write this review for Danny based upon my experience of having lens replacement surgery. I decided to have lens replacement in both eyes after wearing contact lens and glasses for more than 30 years. The usual issues of struggling to read menus and computer screens with my contact lens was frustrating. I contacted Optical Express to explore what options were available with my current eye prescription. I was invited to the Kingston upon Thames branch for an assessment which was professionally completed with very pleasant staff. I had a call with Danny to discuss my concerns for the operation and to discuss the options available. I decided to proceed based upon Dannys experience and his professionalism during our communication. Danny respond to my further questions via email promptly which assisted me to confirm the correct lens to be used for my condition. The operation took place at Westfield in London, and was exactly as described in the documentation I had received from Optical Express. I met Danny before the operation and Danny is a very calm profession surgeon. The operation went well and I now have 20% better that 20/20 vision, which is incredible. Thank you Danny I am very pleased with the results!
I had both of my lenses replaced together,it took about ten minutes per eye. The operation was done very smoothly I couldn't feel any pain just a slight irritation and strange lights. It took me probably 20 minutes to focus on my Tea cup afterwards, my wife collected me about 30 minutes later, when we went outside the cars seemed as if they had fairy lights from the front to the back I felt ok though so we went to the pub.The next day I was seeing much better I could read the newspaper without my GLASSES!. I went to my first check up that morning and everything was spot on.This is now 3 weeks post op and I am very pleased with my vision.
Mr Mitry carried out an elected lens replacement procedure on both my eyes on 2nd April 2019 at the Optical Express centre at Westfield, White City, London. He had previously carried out a telephone consultation on 18th March 2019 to ensure I fully understood the processes involved and what I might expect during and after the procedure. I was fully satisfied from this consultation although understandably apprehensive about the operation. I did have some supplementary questions and Mr Mitry answered them promptly via email. On the day there was a short wait while I completed all the consent forms. The Optometrist completed the same tests and examinations from my original consultation to check that all the prescriptions were correct. The Anaesthetist came to see me and explained how the local anaesthetics would work; anaesthetic drops, local anaesthetic and an intravenous infusion to calm me. When my time came I was ushered through the double doors and was greeted by Mr Mitry who is exactly what I wanted. He is professional, calm, self assured (not arrogant, there is a difference!) and his movements are steady and precise (yes I was looking!). He asked me to sit and examined both my eyes carefully with a very bright light and a magnifier and confirmed he was happy to proceed. As I had elected to have both eyes treated on the same day I asked Mr Mitry to agree that unless he was 100% content with the work on one eye he would not continue with the second eye. He gave me his assurance on this. I was then collected by the nurse who was very kind. Then I was laid onto a trolley couch with a lowered recessed headrest at one end. The Anaesthetist administered the intravenous injection which must have calmed me...a lot because I do not remember the local anaesthetic (maybe that was after) or being wheeled into the operating area. I was vaguely aware of what felt like small pads against my lower eye lids but apart from that I felt nothing; I saw nothing. The next thing I remember is walking back through the double doors just as my wife came in to collect me. With regard to the after effects all that Mr Mitry predicted would happen does happen; halos around bright lights, sensitivity to bright lights. There was also a flickering effect to my peripheral vision and a slight change to how I see colours PLUS 20 / 20 vision which is amazing at my age (60). It is now just over two weeks since the operation and all is well with the after effects lessening ( not the great eyesight part). I am still using the drops as directed. I would say allow a full week plus a weekend off work especially if using a computer. In conclusion, if any of my family were to elect to have this procedure I would ensure they have Mr Mitry and his team complete it.
Excellence in customer care, in explanation of procedure and in providing a sense of a personal touch
I had refractive multifocal lens replacement, in February 2109. From the first appointment, to the surgery i felt in safe hands. Dr Mitry was very professional, knowledgeable and caring. I was very nervous, but was made to feel very comfortable and safe. The procedure was explained many times, and many tests were done and repeated for clarity before the surgery. Dr Mitry talked me through the procedure, and whilst in surgery explained each step. I found his bedside manner exceptional, the whole procedure was far less daunting than i had imagined. I was on my way home about an hour after surgery, able to see better than i thought. The aftercare has been first class, Dr Mitry made me feel i could contact him at any time. He has emailed me to find out my progress, and i emailed him with a query which was resolved within a few hours. I totally recommend this procedure to anybody, it's fantastic not having to wear glasses.
Overall my experience with Mr Mitry was excellent. He explained the procedure and answered all my questions, both on the phone and at my pre-op meeting. On the day of the operation his manner was excellent, and he led me through the (quite scary) events with a calming influence. One tiny observation, which may be better addressed by Vision Express, is that I found the recovery more challenging than expected, and really would advise anyone doing it to take at least a week if not longer off work.
First of all I would like to give a special thanks to Dr Patel who encouraged me to have lens replacement rather than laser to give me a result which would be glasses free he was very helpful and answered all my questions and put me totally at ease so much that from being a little apprehensive,I was actually looking forward to having the procedure.I was referred to the clinic in white city to Dr Danny Mitzi.Danny is a lovely Irish guy from Dublin and me also Irish made the introduction very easy .I can honestly say that all the staff in this office are extremely courteous and helpful all the protests and examinations went a dream.Monday came one eye done ,very fast painless and stress free ,second eye Tuesday again similar procedure I’ve done it all over and immediate effect haven’t wore glasses since absolutely brilliant.I was a guy with +1.5 for distance and +3.00 for reading and getting worse I and really amazed with the results .I am very grateful to Danny Mitri and his excellent team for giving me a new lease in the eyesight department and for any one who is thinking about this procedure stop and do it no question you will be in good hands and the aftercare is excellent they cover all the angles in ensuring all is well thanks again from a very happy patient .
I was quite nervous about having lens replacement surgery but the meeting with the surgeon, Danny Mitry I felt completely confident and happy to go ahead. He was direct, informative and at the same time supportive. He is very capable and experienced.
My experience was very positive. Danny ensured that a thorough assessment was done for my case as my prescription was unusual. As a result I felt very confident in the processes used by Optical Express. Other elements felt a bit generic, but this was not true of the surgical consultant. I felt that he had properly and fully assessed my case as an individual. His thoroughness made the decision to proceed with surgery easier as I had confidence that he had fully assed the risks and understood my prescription. He had appreciated and answered with competence my concerns. Thanks Danny ! I’m very happy with the outcome.
After being accepted to have the Intraocular Lens replacement procedure I was apprehensive but also excited. On the morning of the procedure I went with my husband to the clinic in London. Everything about what was going to happen was explained by Mr Dabby Mitry before going to London and any questions answered. All the staff were very helpful and made me so at ease. Mr mitry performed the operation which was painless and I had both eyes done. When Mr Mitry asked me to open my eyes it was amazing, why did I worry there was no need to. Eye drops were given to me which I still take. I have had my eyes checked and a sight test done which surprised me how well I can see, ether than my husband who wears glasses. If asked would I have it done again the answer would definitely be yes of course.
Excellent service from the whole team, I was very nervous but was put at ease by the caring staff, The laser surgery was over with very quickly I did not feel a thing,it has only been 2 weeks since my surgery & I’m enjoying not wearing glasses.
I had lens replacement surgery 3 weeks ago with Mr Mitry . I can say that my overall experience was a very positive one and would highly recommend Danny Mitry .I had a phone pre op appointment where all my questions were answered .i I was abl3 to discuss the pro and cons of the procedure including my fears about potential risks. Danny Mitry was honest and reassuring whist being realistic about what could be achieved . I had a very positive surgery day ,I appreciated that he gave me enough time to consider each part of the surgery . I felt no pain , instructions for care of my eyes were clear ,I followed them and there was no infection and quick healing . If I were to recommend someone to carry out eye surgery , it would defiantly be Danny Mitry . I no longer need glasses , and have been given the priceless gift of years of near perfect vision . Danny did mention that my night vision would change after surgery and I do experience halos especially with oncoming traffic. Somehow ,when you have a realistic account of what is to be expected , as a patient you can make a more informed decision. Danny said that the surgery would not achieve perfection and he was right to say that . Three weeks after surgery ,I’m getting used to the halos and somehow I’m adapting to it all. Overall I am very ,very pleased .
After completing the initial assessment and test I was under no obligation or pressure to proceed with lens replacement surgery. i was fully informed by Danny and the team every step of the way. On the day itself I was given all the time for any further questions to be answered. The process was explained in great detail and the whole process went smoothly as was expected. The follow up was equally relaxed and I was under the care of the team and was still made to feel like the only patient. i wholeheartedly wish I had it done years ago.
I am insatiably curious and research everything online--from my choices of surgeon to sturgeon (in both you want to find the "no-kill" variety!). So it is perhaps an unusual blip that this is the first online review I have ever written. Why? Perhaps because I have never felt so overwhelmingly compelled to write a review as I am by the wonderfully positive experience of eye surgery under Mr. Danny Mitry, who operates from the Royal Free and St. John's and Elizabeth hospitals in north London. When diagnosed with cataracts, I had to research them immediately, only to learn that rather than some growth, cataracts are actually the natural lens in each of your eyes turning opaque with age and/or the sun. (One of the few benefits of living under the minimalist sun in the UK is that people who live in sunnier climates develop cataracts a decade or more earlier than we do.) More daunting is the actual process of the surgery, which is first the surgical removal of your eye's lens, and then the insertion of a new, plastic lens. Both lenses do not float on the surface, but reside underneath your cornea, at the back of your eye. So it is with some trepidation that I finally started to research a good eye surgeon. You have to wait to surgically remove the cataract until it becomes "ripe", which is the too-juicy technical description of it. This gave me the perfect opportunity to delay surgery--until my focus on the world became a rather lovely, fuzzy blur-- meaning I could not drive or read very well! My fellow world-class procrastinators, this is essential surgery which you should not put off. Doing that meant when I found out the NHS offered a 21-22 week wait just for a consultation, I had to resort to my private health insurance, thereby losing my no-claims bonus. While Danny Mitry operates on both the NSH and privately, apparently you can't choose your surgeon if you choose to go NHS. At my first consultation with him, my undoubted fears were replaced with an inner certainty that I had found the right surgeon for me. My research had shown his impressive qualifications and experience, but does not begin to describe my overwhelmingly positive of being his patient. In the past, I had some highly skilled but narrowly-focused surgeons who are coldly detached, even self-righteous. Not a bit of that attitude with Mr. Mitry. He is a doctor who genuinely cares--and is responsive to--his patients. I was slightly worried that I might be discreetly chastised, or subtly tut-tutted for having delayed this surgery for far longer than I should have done--a surgeon's attitude which serves only to perpetuate a patient's delaying tactics. There was no hint of that with Dr. Mitry My numerous questions usually annoy consultants, who display their impatience with a patient by looking at their watches--or literally "look down" on you by peering over the top of their glasses. Moreover, Danny Mitry will be refreshingly honest with you, not "leaving out" what may be the negative aspects of any surgery. He will always talk through the choices with you--of which there are a number to be made. Single-focus or multi-focus lens? Have both eyes done at once, or with several weeks in-between procedures? (the latter a good idea as there is a slight risk of cross-infection). Full improvements in your eyes will be reaped about 5-6 weeks after surgery, as they take time to adjust. That Danny Mitry is an immensely skilled surgeon can be proven objectively by the measure of how much my eyes have improved: unexpectedly, my eyesight is as good, or better, than it was before cataracts! I spoke with another patient who also praised his "extraordinary skill" in a middle-of-the night emergency surgery on a detached retina. In a happy summation, I can wholeheartedly recommend Danny Mitry both as an outstanding surgeon and person.
I decided that when I needed cataract surgery I would go privately so that Could receive prescription lenses meaning one operation would last a lifetime.I approached my nearestoptician in Dundee[approx 25 miles away, Iwas seen by a consultant who recommended single lenses. The surgery was to take place in Glasgow, it needed someone to be with me and necessitated a 3 day stay in Glasgow.I dicussed with my daughter [living in London] who suggested that London would be a better solutions I could stay with her.I read all the options before talking to DR Mitry. The telephone consultancy I had with him convinced me ,further to my reseach, would be better having varifocal lenses on both eyes at the same time. When I arrived at the venue in London before surgery al the tests I had had were repeated before surgery. All staff were pleasant and welcoming. Dr Mitry introduced himself before surgery. After lying down he explained the procedure.I believe I fell asleep and the next thing I was aware of was being asked if I would like a tea or coffee.I was then helped into a comfortable chair in the recovery room.My son in law had gone shopping and was telephoned say I was ready to go home .I was given drops and instructions and was told to return the following day.The following day after undergoing tests it was confirmed my eyesight was so improved I was clear to drive.Having snuggled with contact lenses and poor fitting glasses for the past ten years I was delighted to discover that I could see to read the newspaper.Christmas tree lights were awesome like seed heads of dandelions. Unfortunately I was unable to return to DR Mitry's clinic because the appointment book was full, therefore I was given an appointment in Harley street London I have my next appointment in Dundee.Having experienced 3 different venues I can only say all were excellent.I had no side effects my eyes did not go red, there was no bruising and no pain at all .I can highly recommend Optical express and all their employees
In October 2018, following a routine eye examination at my local Boots Optician, I was told that I had a cataract. A visit to my GP followed where it was requested that I obtain the referral from the optician for my GP. This took almost three weeks leaving me anxious and frustrated that my sight was becoming worse on a daily basis; which led me to seek private treatment. At the earliest opportunity I contacted Optical Express which led to a consultation on December 14th 2018. I found the consultation thorough where all my questions were answered. On trying to find a surgery date I was offered a number of appointments for the new year, but given my anxiousness I opted for a vacant appointment for 09:00 December 17th 2018, which required special clearance as it was outside of Optical Express 7 day patient cooling off period. I was advised that the surgeon Dr Danny Mitry will contact me the following day. Saturday 15th December, Danny contacted me by phone for an initial consultation. I immediately felt at ease having received his call as advised during my consultation. December 17th surgery date, on the day of the procedure Dr Mitry greeted me and introduced himself. He explained in detail, the course and detail of the replacement lens surgery. Following the successful 15 minute surgery, I had a reaction to the anesthetic which left me feeling sick and dizzy, the aftercare team where supportive and caring. I was able to leave the surgery two hours later after the team ensured that I was well and able to travel. The surgery has been successful which has enabled me to resume my life and activities.
I trained and worked with Mr Danny Mitry for many years at London's Moorfields Eye Hospital. He has alway been a gifted surgeon and excellent clinical ophthalmologist.
Mr Danny Mitry is one of those rare doctors who not only are at the top of their field academically, but also is an excellent clinician and surgeon. He is a calm, confident and trust worthy person who will provide you with the highest level of care. I would be happy for him to treat my family and friends.
