Mr Vittorio Russo is a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of the full spectrum of spinal conditions.
He has advanced subspecialist expertise in spinal tumour surgery, including primary and metastatic tumours affecting the spinal cord, nerves, vertebral column and surrounding structures. He also specialises in complex degenerative spinal disorders, spinal deformity, cranio-cervical junction pathology, and revision spinal surgery for patients with persistent or recurrent symptoms following previous procedures.
Uniquely dual-trained in both neurosurgical and orthopaedic spinal surgery, Mr Russo completed advanced fellowship training at leading centres in London, Oxford and New Orleans. This enables him to offer the full range of modern spinal treatments, including microsurgical and minimally invasive techniques, robotic-assisted surgery, motion-preserving surgery such as cervical disc replacement, and complex spinal reconstruction.
Mr Russo is committed to delivering precise diagnosis, clear communication and highly personalised treatment plans. Most patients can be managed without surgery, and when an operation is required, treatment is carefully tailored to the individual, with a focus on the least invasive approach capable of achieving the best outcome.
Mr Russo holds consultant appointments at two of the UK's leading specialist spinal and neurosurgical centres: the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (UCLH) and Cleveland Clinic London, where he manages a broad range of complex spinal conditions. He also holds an honorary academic appointment as Associate Professor at University College London.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Russo is actively involved in research, teaching and surgical education, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and invited presentations at national and international meetings. His work has been recognised through awards from organisations including the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies, the British Association of Spine Surgeons and the Scoliosis Research Society.
