Mr Usman Hussain

Mr. Usman Hussain is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with over a decade of experience in the treatment and diagnosis of eye conditions including corneal and cataract surgery. He sees private patients at the BMI St Edmunds Hospital and Newmedica Suffolk.

Mr. Hussain gained his primary medical qualification in 2005 at Guy's, King's & St. Thomas' School of Medicine, during which he was also awarded the undergraduate prize and special modules for Ophthalmology. Upon completion of his degree, Mr. Hussain then undertook his training in Ophthalmology in the East of England and went on to train with renowned experts in the field, including Professor Madhavan Rajan, Professor John Dart and Professor Rajesh Aggarwal. He also trained in renowned eye hospitals including Moorfield's Eye Hospital, Southend University Hospital and Addenbrooke's Hospital. During his time spent training, Mr. Hussain was awarded for his outstanding ophthalmology research by Cambridge University, winning the Marie Comer prize and the John Cairns Memorial Prize. This research included advanced corneal graft surgery techniques and laser assisted cataract surgery.

Since his Consultant appointment, Mr. Hussain has been revered for his remarkable contributions to the field of ophthalmology and is also an active member of the teaching community, being the Ophthalmology College Tutor at West Suffolk Hospital and also sitting on the East of England School of Ophthalmology Training Committee.
