Mr Trevor Lawrence

Mr Trevor Lawrence is a distinguished Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Birmingham and Solihull, specialising in hip and knee procedures, including primary and revision hip replacements, hip arthroscopy, knee replacements, and knee arthroscopy. With over 25 years of experience, he provides expert care at Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull, alongside his NHS role as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Birmingham Heartlands and Solihull NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Lawrence graduated from the University of Edinburgh Medical School in 1986, earning a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Medicine, and Bachelor of Surgery, before completing specialist orthopaedic training at Wrightington Hospital in Wigan and the Princess Elizabeth Hospital in Exeter. He also spent a year as a Surgical and Research Fellow in Adult Lower Limb Joint Replacement at the University of Virginia, USA. Early in his career, he taught anatomy at King’s College Medical School and practised Emergency Medicine at King’s College Hospital in Camberwell, further broadening his clinical expertise.

Mr Lawrence specialises in hip surgery, hip revision surgery, knee surgery, and the management of osteoarthritis. He has particular clinical interests in keyhole surgery of the knee and the management of early arthritis of the knee joint. He is highly respected for his surgical outcomes, maintaining one of the lowest major complication rates at Spire Parkway Hospital and among the lowest in the UK overall. His patient-centred approach ensures that patients are fully informed, supported, and involved in their treatment journey. He routinely uses the Exeter Hip Replacement Implant, which has excellent long-term success rates, with over 90% of implants functioning for 39 years or more, according to National Joint Registry data. Mr Lawrence’s surgical volume also places him among the highest performers nationally for primary hip replacements.

Throughout his career, Mr Lawrence has trained over 40 orthopaedic surgeons in Total Joint Replacement Surgery, many of whom now practise across the UK. He has been awarded Excellence Points for Quality of Care through his NHS work and won the prestigious Naughton Dunn Award in 2011. He continues to publish and present research nationally and internationally as a guest speaker, and he serves as a convener for the Exeter Hip Course, attracting orthopaedic surgeons from across Britain.

Mr Lawrence is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Hip Society, the Royal Society of Medicine, the Orthopaedic Research Society, and the British Medical Association.
