About Mr Stuart James

Mr James is a consultant spinal surgeon based in the University Hospital Wales of Cardiff, and several private institutions in South Wales. He has been performing all aspects of spinal surgery for over a decade as a Consultant. Mr James likes to undertake all aspects of patient managment in an inclusive, open and understandable way, supported by an honest evidence-based approach. The breadth of his practise includes complex paediatric and adult spinal deformity, spinal sports related issues. He also undertakes routine spinal procedures including cervical, thoracic and lumbar decompressions and minimally invasive fusions techniques where appropriate. He also performs cervical disc replacements, diagnostic and therapeutic spinal injections, radiofrequency denervation procedures and minimally invasive sacroiliac fusions.

Qualifications

Mr Stuart James undertook his undergraduate medical education in the University of Southampton qualifying in 1998. Post-graduate education was undertaken in Wales, where he became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons and subsequently a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England specialising in Trauma and Orthopaedics. Following this he undertook an internationally recognised fellowship in complex Spinal Surgery in Bristol, UK. Further education included periods within the United States of America where he learned more specialised minimally invasive procedures on the spine. He continues to be active in education, frequently teaching fellow national and international consultants, contemporary minimally invasive techniques.

Mr James is a member of the British Scoliosis Society and The British Association of Spine Surgeons.
