Mr Shahid Akhtar is consistently professional, friendly, and reassuring in his patient interactions. Patients frequently commend Mr Akhtar's clear explanations of procedures, including hip replacement and total knee replacement, recovery, and potential complications. His approach ensures patients feel at ease, confident, and well-informed from initial consultation to post-operative care. The majority of feedback pertains to successful hip and knee joint replacement procedures.
Had a right hip replacement in April by Mr Aktar , not only a brilliant Surgeon who mades you feel important and explained the whole procedure so simply you feel very relaxed and assured, There are some people you met in your life that are truly lovely who show genuine care for others and that is certainly Mr Aktar so I’m sending all my gratitude to him and his colleagues who showed such kindness I am now pain free and can get on with living . Thank you
This was my 2nd knee replacement with Mr Akhtar and both experiences were the same - excellent. He is a born communicator and instills the patient with confidence. I would highly recommend him
Right from our initial consultation I had confidence in Mr Akhtar and this continued through out my experience. Also the team in theatre and after were exemplary, friendly but always professional
I had left hip replaced on 3rd August by Mr Aktar, what can I say I can walk again!! From the first visit through to discharge he has been amazing, very calm, professional but so easy to talk to. I would say to anyone thinking of this surgery to book to see Mr Aktar straight away, this is my second hip replacement ( first time at this hospital and with Mr Aktar) prior to surgery I was bone on bone end stage osteoarthritis, my new hip has equal range of movement as my old hip and it's only been a week.. Absolutely amazing, he has transformed my life
Today I had to see Mr Akhtar for a second follow up appointment. I will rate Mr Akhtar 11 out of 10 he is the most loveliest man and a wonderful surgeon. Mr Akhtar has always got a smile on his face and he his very down to earth I couldn’t have wished for a better surgeon to replace my knee. I had a total knee replacement at the end of April and I am walking about with no pain which I have been for a good few weeks it is nice to have my mobility and my life back. If you’ve got to have a knee replacement don’t hesitate or look any further than my Akhtar in my opinion he is the best and you’ll never regret having it done.
I was told during my Pre-op appointment that I would be discharged on the day following my operation. I was worried about this as I has the same surgery on my other knee four and a half years ago and was not well enough to be discharged for 3 days. I raised my concerns with the lady that phoned me prior to surgery and she assured me that I would be assessed and not discharged if I was not well. I went down for my operation at 3:15 and remembered waking up in recovery at 5:15. I was taken back to the ward and managed to eat a bit of a sandwich and has a cup of tea. The painkillers were making me drowsy so didnt feel like eating much. Mr Akhtar came to see me and told me that the operation had gone well. He was very reassuring and told me to rest. I was very drowsy and nauseous the next day and in the afternoon I was told that I would be discharged. I told the nurse that I did not feel well enough and had a nearly 2 hour drive home. The nurse said he would speak to someone. I was worried at the time but shortly after Mr Akhtar came in to see me and confirmed that I should stay overnight. Mr Akhtar is a lovely man. He makes you feel special and that he really cares and wants to help. I was so happy with my knee replacement four anda half year ago that I decided to come back for Mr Akhtar to do the other knee which was deteriorating. Thank you Mr Akhtar.. I don't think that it is helpful to tell patients during their pre-op appointment that they will be discharged the following day as patients recover better at home. It caused me some distress. I think it would be better if I ...
