Mr Simon Boyle is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in disorders of the shoulder and elbow, as well as sports injuries. Simon received his medical degree in 1997 and went on to train in Yorkshire and Australia. Simon undertook international fellowships in shoulder and elbow surgery in Annecy, France and Wrightington. In 2009, Simon carried out the complex arthroscopic Latarjet shoulder stabilisation procedure - making him the first surgeon in the UK to do so.
Simon has expertise in the management of shoulder pain, rotator cuff tears, shoulder dislocations, frozen shoulders, AC joint injuries and shoulder arthritis as well as disorders of the elbow including tennis/golfers elbow, stiffness and ulnar nerve compression. He has a strong belief in tailoring treatment to an individual's needs and circumstances and in many cases problems can be managed without the need for surgery.
Simon is himself a keen sportsman and has played both rugby union and league for over 20 years. He now enjoys running, cycling and triathlons and recently completed an Ironman and the New York marathon.
Simon currently has private practices based in York and Leeds, with his main NHS practice in York.

Treatment areas commonly include shoulder arthritis, rotator cuff repair, and shoulder arthroscopy procedures.
Explained everything clearly, very friendly and easy to speak to, surgery went extremely well and very much on the mend.
The operation went as described and care afterwards at Ramsey was second to none, a very successful out.
From my initial consultation Mr Boyle was very reassuring, provided all the information I needed and gave me confidence I was in good hands. We discussed treatment options and when ultimately I had surgery to repair a torn tendon, osteoarthritis and a frozen shoulder, it went very smoothly and my recovery journey is going well. No one wants to have surgery but if you need it I highly recommend Mr Boyle.
Everything was extremely relaxed but thorough. Expectations managed perfectly. Mr Boyle would be my recommendation for anybody requiring shoulder surgery every time.
Mr Boyle was very pleasant and professional describing very carefully the procedure, after care and risks involved in my surgery. Follow on appointments gave me the reassurance that all was going well, I am now discharged and very happy with the results.
Excellent as always long standing patient of Mr Boyle
Simon was so helpful and made feel like I was involved in the process rather than having it done to me. He explained everything really clearly and gave me as much detail as I wanted to know.
Great experience - everything explained and the outcome has been better than expected
It has been a very good experience overall. I always felt that this was a very personalised treatment and follow up so I understood why I needed the operation and what had happened during surgery. With videos to prove it. Excellent.
Excellent skill both with diagnoses and treatment of shoulder and elbow injuries - I have referred a number of athletes to Simon for his expertise
