About

Mr Sanjeev Patil is a full time Orthopaedic Consultant at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow and BMI Ross Hall Hospital, Glasgow.

He completed his higher surgical training from Glasgow and undertook a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at Vancouver General Hospital, Canada. He has also been a Travelling Fellow at the Mayo clinic, Rochester and Rush Hospital, Chicago.

Mr Patil has undertaken further training in young adult hip surgery at San Diego, USA and was a joint American-British Hip Society Travelling Fellow in 2009. He was also awarded the prestigious American British Canadian (ABC) Traveling Fellowship for the year 2014.

Mr Patil has set up a tertiary ‘Young Adult Hip Service' in Glasgow and is responsible for management of various complex hip conditions for patients across Scotland. In addition, he actively contributes to regional management of Periprosthetic fractures.

Mr Patil is able to offer consultations for investigation of hip pain and subsequently plan appropriate treatment. He is trained to deal with most of the clinical conditions affecting the hip joint. These include arthritis, bursitis, hip dysplasia, loss of blood supply (AVN), sports related injuries and painful hip joint replacements. His clinical practice includes all aspects of hip surgery including primary and revision hip replacement and conservative hip procedures (Ganz osteotomy and hip arthroscopy etc).

Conservative hip surgery has evolved significantly in the last decade. Non Arthroplasty Hip Registry (NAHR) assists surgeons to evaluate their practice and compare their performance with national standards. Mr Patil actively participates in this process and contributes data to NAHR.

He is committed to education at all levels including undergraduate, higher surgical and postgraduate training (MCh orth, MSc Sports and Exercise Medicine). Over the past 10 years Mr Patil has been a faculty member on the foremost leading hip surgery courses in the UK.

Mr Patil has been an active member of the British Hip Society (BHS) for over ten years. The British Hip Society remains one of the best in the world for propagating science and professional development. He has been able to give various invited podium presentations during most annual meetings over the last decade.
