About Mr William Wilson

Mr William Wilson is a consultant orthopaedic knee surgeon with a specialist interest in sports injuries. He has received international fellowship training in knee surgery and complex lower limb trauma in Melbourne, Australia, and is dual qualified in both Trauma & Orthopaedics and Sport & Exercise Medicine, holding membership with both Royal Colleges.

Mr Wilson has extensive experience treating patients with a variety of knee conditions, from arthritic knee pain to injuries in recreational and elite athletes. He has served as team doctor for the Irish Football Association and head of medical for the delegation to the UEFA European Championship Finals.

Originally from County Antrim, Northern Ireland, Mr Wilson studied medicine at the University of Glasgow, where he completed a research degree in Knee Anatomy. His academic background is strong, having undertaken a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, focusing on the functional outcomes of ACL surgery and the role of Internal Bracing. His research has been published in top orthopaedic and sports medicine journals.

Mr Wilson works as an NHS Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics at NHS Ayrshire & Arran and is also a professional referee for the Scottish Football Association. His clinical expertise includes sports injury treatment, ACL surgery, joint replacement, and robotic-assisted surgeries.

Came in to get 2nd knee replacement n it wasn't as bad as 1st but still big operation still having numbness with 1st knee which was done in October last year so expect the numbness to last quite a while with the 2nd knee
