My appointment went very well. Mr Rajaratnam was thorough, explanations clear and bedside manner excellent.
Couldn’t have been better . Sam lived up to my expectations and gave me confidence.
Sam, was excellent in every regard. He made me fully aware of what he would be doing and what will be achieved. I cannot rate him highly enough.
When you are undertaking a ( Total Knee Replacement ) I was looking for three items of criteria that were on my agenda. Trust / Confidence / Friendship./ I found this with Sam / Barry ...and his wonderful team . A level of care + service second to none . Thank you
Mr Sam has been superb throughout from initial consultation to discharge 6 weeks after the procedure yesterday. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Sam & all his wonderful team for the brilliant result.
Really helpful throughout with his wonderful team, especially Barry Philips, Christine and Dr Ari
Sam and his team of galactico specialists were exceptional during my recent knee replacement surgery, the level of professionalism and care was just exceptional.
This was my second total knee replacement. I wouldn't dream of going to anyone else. Sam is very friendly, explains the procedure in layman's terms, advises on what to do once out of hospital (physio at home, ice machine) and asks and answers questions equally readily. He operates quickly too so you're "out" for less time. He has built up a team so I had the same anaesthetist as six years ago, Mr Barry Phillips. Barry is just as approachable and a good listener. Both Sam and Barry visit before and after the operation to make sure all is well. Barry remembered my experiences with the right knee, appreciated I knew what to expect pain wise and reassured me he'd make sure I had sufficient painkillers to take home as I was not going to a rehab centre this time. I was given explanations by his assistant anaesthetist Ari about each item and was advised, very seriously, which I should try to wean myself off asap. I did that with no problems. Nurses are also a critical part of Sam's team, taking out the staples and giving advice at the post-op visit when Sam checked all was going well. I did arrange a local physio myself - with Sam telling me what I should be looking for - as he had no connections in my area. I found someone who would do home visits (Sam's idea). He also recommended a Physiolab ice machine for pain relief and swelling. It wouldn't suit everyone as it's cumbersome and I couldn't have carried the icepack up and down stairs in the early days. Luckily I have a caring husband. Following the post-op visit to the clinic I've had a phone consultation. All is going well, in...

Common causes, symptoms and when to seek medical advice for back of knee pain

Knee pain is a common problem. In the UK today about one-third of over 50-year-olds suffer from it from time to time. However, only about one-third of these people visit their GP for a consultation about their knee pain, the vast majority preferring to self-medicate or ignore the situation. In the case of minor knee problems, of a temporary nature, this may be a reasonable reaction, but with persistent pain on a long term basis, there is the danger of a serious underlying problem which may get worse if treatment is delayed.

Hearing a clicking or clunking noise after knee replacement surgery can be worrying. Many patients fear that something is loose or that their artificial knee is failing. The good news is that, in most cases, a clicking knee replacement is entirely normal and not a cause for concern. This article explains why knee replacements click, when it is normal, when it may indicate a problem, and what to do if you are concerned — particularly if you have had knee replacement surgery for knee osteoarthritis.
