Professor Roland Ling

Professor Ling qualified in 1994. Professor Ling undertook ophthalmic training in the South West of England. In 2002, Professor Ling was awarded a prestigious Retinal Fellowship at the University of Toronto, and spent a year specialising in Retinal Diseases. Professor Ling returned to England in 2003.

Professor Ling performs Cataract surgery using the latest Micro incisional technique (MIC) and Intraocular Lens Technology. Professor Ling also specialises in treating Retinal Disorders. Professor Ling was the first Retinal Specialist in the South West Peninsula to introduce anti-VEGF treatment. Professor Ling was also the first Retinal surgeon in the South West Peninsula to transition to the 23-Gauge small incisional sutureless vitrectomy system.

Professor Ling is sensitive to the treatment needs of their patients, and places great emphasis in cultivating understanding and involvement of their patients in their treatments. Outside of work, Professor Ling enjoys playing the violin.
