Newmedica Exeter

I arrived 20 mins early for appointment in case there were traffic hold ups. The receptionist told me my appointment would be on time, so I went for a short walk outside as waiting room was crowded. Returned 5 mins before appointment and waited 45 minutes before the the first eye drops etc were given. I waited another 45 minutes before the start of the procedure. When anxious as I guess most people are a long wait doesn't help at all. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The procedure went smoothly. At home again, I found the information in some of the New Medica leaflets was different from what I had been told. Confusing.

Every contact I have had with Newmedica at Glen House in Exeter has been a smooth, calm experience. I have had one cataract operated on at Glen House and will have the other eye operation in a few weeks time. The reception staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful, I felt reassured by this first contact at Glen House. Every nurse/doctor there has gone through all details with patience and I never felt hurried. Any questions I had were answered in the same manner. I can’t tell you how happy I am to have my operations there.

Within 2 weeks of requesting Newmedica for my eye assessment I received a call from Reception to make an appointment.. I had a choice of dates and settled for the 10th August My plans changed and I found myself at home and not away. I rang Reception and asked any chance of an earlier appointment and Helen was delighted to offer me the next day. I was so pleased. Now I have a procedure date on 28 August. Fingers crossed. What lovely staff. They made my day.

Initially I was very anxious but the whole experience was exceptional. All the staff were friendly and professional. I met the surgeon before going in for surgery and he went through the process with me and asked if I had any questions. Attention was given to my comfort I.e. a blanket over me, raise my hand during the process if I had a to cough, itch etc. coffee, tea , water in recovery. Instructions for drops and post op dos and don’ts clearly laid out. An excellent service and I highly recommend Newmedica Exeter for cataract surgery.

At a pre op appointment the ophthalmologist told me I would have cataracts in both eyes dealt with in two operations. It was only after the first operation that a nurse told me that they would not operate on my second eye. I am now left with 1 good eye and one poor eye. Their communication skills are not good. I would not have had the first operation if I had been told I could only have one eye operated on

Five stars. All the staff were helpful and friendly, making me feel at ease. The consultant surgeon, Mr Harry Roberts was really thorough and efficient, keeping me informed with each step of the procedure. Very happy with everything so far and looking forward to the other eye being done.

All staff were very polite, caring and showed excellent professional skills which was very comforting. This kind of service is hard to find elsewhere. The laser treatment was excellent and Sophia Vaughan did a remarkable job restoring my vision. I can't thank her enough.
