Mr Robert Hicks

I went to three shires hospital due to having a varicose vein on my right leg. When I had an appointment Mr Hicks was thorough which he said if I would like to I can have a procedure done on my leg. Which I said yes to. On the procedure day I went to the reception where I said my name and other bits and the time of the appointment which I was told to sit down to be called in about 5 minutes I was greeted and went to the bedroom where I will be staying in for the day. At the time of the procedure I walked with one of the nurses to the place where I was getting the procedure done. I was very nervous and anxious but that soon went away from the team that helped and support me with getting the procedure done. During the procedure had the team talking to me and what was going on which helped me a lot. After the procedure I sat down on the bed. I was asked if I would like to have anything to eat. Which I said yes to and had sandwhiches and a cup of tea. Which was amazing and I don’t normally like tea. The tea was amazing. Once the nurse was done with all the checks to go home I said I can walk to the car but she said she would prefer me to be in a wheelchair to the car for my own safety. The staff at three shires are lovely and very chatty. Like I said before my anxiety was very high but gone with the support of the team at the three shires. I have no faults the team at the three shires just that they are lovely.

All the hospital stuff were lovely and made me feel incredibly comfortable and liked after me perfectly! Mr Hicks was incredibly professional and calm, and provided all the required information to make me feel comfortable.

Although I have not yet received treatment from Mr Hicks, I feel very comfortable in his care and confidently look forward to him rectifying my Hernia problem.

It was a follow up check up after my procedure. Mr Hicks checked my leg which is now transformed. He asked about my experience of the procedure itself. He was very pleasant and informative throughout.

I was understandably quite nervous before my hernia operation, but from the moment I met Mr Hicks and his team, I felt I was in extremely safe hands. They guided me through every stage of the process with such professionalism, kindness and reassurance, which really helped put me at ease. I couldn’t be happier with the result. The incision is incredibly neat and already barely noticeable, and I’ve been amazed at how quickly and well I’ve healed following the procedure. I was diagnosed with an umbilical hernia after having my second child. For treatment of hernias the only real option was surgery and I wanted to be secure in choosing the right surgeon. When researching Mr Hicks he has huge amount of experience and very favourable reviews, not just from patients but staff who work with him. When I met with him, he was very personable and kind. The surgery was a success and although I couldn't pick up my children for 4 weeks, I am grateful that the problem is solved and I can get back to normal life. The hernia procedure was very quick and there is very little scarring.
