Mr. Prabhakar Rao is a highly experienced Spinal Surgeon based in Manchester, specialising in spinal surgery, neck and lower back pain, and sciatica. He is renowned for his patient-centred approach and his commitment to excellence in spinal care.
Mr. Rao began his medical journey at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, graduating in 1998. He went on to complete higher surgical training in orthopaedics in Wales, followed by an accredited spinal fellowship at the University Hospital of Wales, where he gained extensive expertise in managing complex spinal conditions.
Dedicated to advancing the field of spinal surgery, Mr. Rao has contributed to numerous research publications and has presented his work at both national and international conferences. His academic interests reflect his lifelong passion for learning and teaching. Currently, he is completing the European Spine Diploma course.
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr. Rao plays a vital role in education and surgical training. He is responsible for mentoring higher surgical trainees in trauma and spinal disorders and serves as a faculty member and lecturer on advanced spinal surgery courses.

I would 100% recommend Mr Rao if you were considering spinal surgery. Mr Rao carried out right sided L4/L5 discectomy and decompression surgery, I am now making a full recovery. Mr Rosa explained fully what he would be doing and answered my questions and made me feel at ease. His caring manner and after care was second to none. From start to finish I was given the best advice and information regarding my surgical procedure. This was explained to me in a very caring and understanding way. Mr Rao was very professional and courteous at the same time, I would highly recommed Mr Rao without ant hesitation. Mr Rao has a good back office support team, both pre and post surgery. The hospital staff at Spire Regency in Macclesfield were amazing. Especially his secretary Naomi Barlow. Naomi moved mountains for me and co ordination the pre op conultations and surgery dated to suit me, whilst making sure I was not delayed in any way that would negatiley impact my health. Even post surgery she has been amazing, I wish Mr Rao, Naomi and all the staff at Spire Regency in Macclesfield all the best and would like to thank them for the friendly service provided.
