⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding care and an incredible recovery ❤️🩹 We are writing this review based on my husband Richard’s bi-lateral knee replacement surgery…We honestly cannot recommend Mr Peter Kempshall and the Gloucestershire Knee Clinic highly enough. Richard recently underwent bilateral knee surgery YES - having BOTH knees operated on at the same time, and the difference has been extraordinary. From our very first consultation through to surgery and the follow-up care, we felt completely confident that Richard was in exceptionally capable hands. Mr Kempshall was professional, reassuring, approachable and, most importantly, clearly committed to achieving the very best outcome for him. He actually takes the time as a consultant surgeon to see the whole person and to listen to your life journey and how you present as an individual. He does not rush and is extremely person centred. Watching Richard’s progress has been amazing. To go from the debilitating daily pain for over 3 years, and the physical limitations that he had before surgery, to now being able to walk comfortably and come down the stairs forwards again, feels like such a milestone. The improvement in his mobility, confidence and quality of life, has been remarkable. He hopes to be back on the dance floor by Christmas! We also want to give one piece of advice to anyone having ANY kind of knee surgery: if you are offered the Physio Lab compression and ice system, order it! Mr Kempshall examined me relating to knee problems I have been having, the questions, examination and description of the X-rays I received were exceptional. I can thoroughly recommend Mr Kempshall and will certainly use his services if I need any further assistance.

Mr Kempshall performed an operation at Nuffield Cheltenham on my right knee in June. He explains everything very thoroughly, is pleasant to speak to and puts you at ease. During this follow up appointment again everything was explained about ongoing recovery, and how to look after my knee.

Peter Kempshall was recommended to me as the specialist I should have for my knee surgery and the recommendation was spot on. I was in the best hands from the outset. His bed side manner and explanation of the proceedure was extremely professional and I felt at complete ease.

Mr Kempshall answered all my questions and his secretary was always very helpful. I felt in safe hands throughout the whole process. Mr Kempshall showed me the X-ray of my knee and told me what had gone wrong and the treatment he proposed. He recommended a customised Conformis replacement knee-joint and explained the advantages of replacing my diseased knee-joint with one that would be a replica of the healthy original. I followed his advice. After the operation, I had one or two queries relating to my recovery and Mr Kempshall answered my emails by return. So reassuring. I am glad Mr Kempshall advocated a Conformis knee-joint. I'm now a year post-surgery and I don't know that I have had an operation.The knee feels absolutely normal. I have full range of movement and can walk and garden better than before. I am very grateful for the treatment I received and I can't recommend Mr Kempshall highly enough.

I cannot speak high enough of Mr. Kempshall. Having suffered for years with debilitating knee pain, I finally underwent 2 knee replacement surgeries at Winfield Hospital, under his care one in Dec 2024 & and in May 2025. It was the best decision I’ve ever made, and he is the reason it was a success. From my very first consultation, Mr. Kempshall was honest, holistic and exceptionally knowledgeable. He diligently explained every step of the knee replacement procedure, the risks and post op recovery. I found him very caring and empathetic, towards my pain and disability and how it was affecting my profession and quality of life. The surgery itself went flawlessly both times, post-op pain was well-managed, the wound healed beautifully, and most importantly – the alignment and function of both new knees feel very natural. Mr. Kempshall also excels in his follow-up care. He saw me personally at every key milestone, adjusted my recovery plan when needed. I am walking without a painful limp, swimming & exercising at the gym and working as a fit surgeon myself again – things I thought I would not be able to do in life. Mr. Kempshall is a master of his craft, but more than that, he is a compassionate, meticulous, and a brilliant surgeon who genuinely gives his patients a new life!

I recently underwent total knee replacement surgery on my left knee at the Winfield Hospital. On the recommendation of a member of my golf club, the specialist I selected was Mr Peter Kempshall and I have to say I could not have done any better. From the outset, Mr Kempshall’s friendly manner and warm sense of humour convinced me that I had made the right choice. Although he knew I had previously had my right knee replaced, he nonetheless took great care to take me through the pre op and post op procedures and the intricacies of the surgery. After almost six weeks, I am recovering fast thanks to his excellent surgical technique and the post op physio sessions. I am walking without sticks or a limp, driving and even playing some golf again, albeit it just hitting short irons to start with. I am absolutely delighted with the treatment and professionalism I received from Mr Kempshall, the ward nurses and the physio staff.

Went in for my second full knee replacement. Level of care and communication was of the highest level from Mr Kempshall and the team in all through the process.
