About
Nigel Suggett qualified in 1994 from Oxford University and he completed his Basic Surgical Training and Higher Specialist Training in Surgery in the West Midlands. He completed a research degree in colorectal cancer in Birmingham University before being appointed at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2006.
He is a well established consultant who has extensive experience in general and colorectal surgery. He is particularly recognised for his experience in hernia surgery which ranges from 'simple' inguinal hernias to very complex recurrent incisional hernias and abdominal wall reconstruction with the use of adjuncts such as botox, pneumoperitoneum and component separation techniques. He works jointly with gynaecology colleagues in the management of endometriosis involving the bowel.
He also has many years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of colo-rectal (bowel) cancer and inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and crohn's disease) as well as benign colorectal problems such as diverticulitis, haemorrhoids, fissures, fistulas and pilonidal sinus disease.
He is a fully trained endoscopist and laparoscopic surgeon and therefore able to offer a variety of minimally invasive approaches where possible.
He practices at the BMI Priory and Edgbaston Hospitals as well as his NHS practice at the Queen Elizabeth.

Absolutely amazing man!! Goes above and beyond for his patients. Explains things clearly and ensures you are well, booking another appointment if you have any concerns. He is incredibly skilled at his job and does the job with minimal surgery/ impact to the patient. I can’t recommend this gentleman enough!

5 star plus from initial consultation, pre-op discussion on the morning of the operation through to operation itself and aftercare. Professional, kind, thorough and so attentive and responsive. I have healed from my double hernia quickly and with minimal pain. I was able to walk almost immediately afterwards and am back to a good level of fitness a month after surgery. At 86 that isn’t bad going! Thanks so much to the expertise of Mr Suggett and his amazing team.

Mr Suggetts I trust with my life, very professional, caring, and goes above and beyond to help if he can help, I feel totally at ease and I have a very embarrassing problem, nevertheless he was professional as always, well worth going private just to see his diagnosis. I would always advise patients to pay to see the best. Mr Suggetts you are the best.
