When I discovered that I had a nerve sheath tumour in my brachial plexus (quite a rare condition), I knew that I had to find a top surgeon in that field to help me. After a lot of research and talking to a number of medical professionals, the name that kept coming up was that of Mike Fox the Consultant Peripheral Nerve Surgeon at The Cleveland Clinic. It was clear that he not only has a UK but also international reputation as one of the finest, most skilled and most experienced surgeons in his field with particular expertise in relation to the brachial plexus. As soon as I met Mike, I knew that I was in the best possible hands. He has genuine warmth, kindness and empathy and, as his patient, I felt listened to and brilliantly cared for and supported throughout. No question was too silly, no concern too trivial and everything was addressed and explained with patience, compassion and understanding. The operation to remove the tumour was highly successful and the debilitating referred pain and burning that I was getting from the tumour compressing the nerves has now gone and my life has been transformed. I feel very blessed to have had such an outstanding surgeon as Mike and his brilliant and skilled team of anaesthetists and theatre staff looking after me with such dedication and care, as well as the wonderful nurses at the Cleveland. Mr Fox took on my case of Thoracic outlet Syndrome from assessment to surgery and post op. From the start he came across as patient and knowledgeable, he was clear with me about expectations and outcomes and how he was ensuring he was able to achieve the best result possible but also about the possibility of finding nothing during the surgery. His approach to surgery was to take a look and inspect everything before making the decision, this was important to me as I wanted a more conservative approach which can vary greatly between surgeons. Two weeks post op I am glad I made the choice to proceed with him and it feels as I am starting to gain my function back. Couldn’t recommend Mr Fox enough.

Mr Fox explained everything to me succinctly and clearly was notably polite and generally nice and seemed to very much care about getting the best clinical result possible. I couldn’t have asked for more from an initial consultation.
