Mr Michael Lewis

Mr Michael Lewis is a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hosptial with a specialist interest in Upper GI cancer , weight loss surgery and laparoscopic surgery. He has expertise in Upper GI cancer surgery (oesophageal and gastric cancer) and laparoscopic surgery (cholecystectomy, hernia repair, splenectomy and anti-reflux surgery), performing over 2500 laparoscopic cholecystectomies, 2000 hernia repairs and over 300 UGI cancer resections over 16 years in both NHS and private practice.

Outside his clinical work, Dr Lewis has completed research and randomised trials focused on both cancer and laparoscopic work, which have been published and presented over the years. Additionally, he is research lead for the Department of Surgery at the NNUH and former Clinical Director for Surgery at the NNUH from 2007 to 2011 and Governance Lead from 2000 to 2007. He is also an honorary Associate Professor at Norwich Medical School (UEA) and honorary Professor at St Georges Medical School, Granada.
