Mr Michael Kurer

Mr Michael Kurer is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic and Shoulder Surgeon who has been practising at North Middlesex University NHS Trust since 1994. Originally from Manchester, he studied medicine at University College London before beginning his orthopaedic training at the Royal Free Hospital and later becoming a Senior Registrar at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

Mr Kurer has progressively dedicated almost all of his clinical practice to the diagnosis and management of shoulder and hand problems.

He is widely regarded for managing complex shoulder conditions and frequently receives referrals from colleagues for challenging cases. His practice includes the treatment of intricate shoulder disorders as well as complex humeral and shoulder girdle fractures that fall outside routine cases.

His specialism in ultrasound-guided techniques has significantly expanded the scope of his practice. For shoulder patients, this means precise diagnosis and injection in a single appointment. For hand patients, he is able to perform truly keyhole surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger finger — procedures he is one of only a few surgeons in the UK offering.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Kurer is a member of both the British Elbow and Shoulder Society and the European Society for the Study of the Shoulder and Elbow. He also works as a medical-legal expert in shoulder disorders, reflecting his depth of knowledge and authority within the field.
