Mr Sood is a renowned Specialist hip and knee surgeon who has been in Specialist Consultant Practice since 2004. He deals with all hip and knee issues as well as sports injuries. He treats all lower limb sports injuries and tendon pain, particularly tendinopathies. He also has considerable expertise in knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, cartilage regeneration procedures, and hip and knee replacement (including revision and complex cases).
He is proud to have been awarded both the Top Doctors Certificate of Excellence for his patient ratings in 2020 and 2022, the iWantGreatCare Certificate of Excellence in 2021 and 2022 and The Doctify award for outstanding patient experience in 2024, 2025 and 2026. He has also been recognised by his NHS Trust with the award of 3 Clinical Excellence Awards.
Mr Sood is a firm believer in preserving native joints (joint preservation) by reconstructing joint damage using cartilage regeneration techniques and biological therapies. He is also, however, an expert hip and knee joint replacement surgeon when arthritis is too advanced for joint preservation. His data from the National Joint Registry shows that he has excellent patient outcomes and a very low risk of complications.
Mr Sood has excellent communication skills and provides his patients with jargon-free explanations of their problems. He assesses his patients very carefully and organises specialist scans when needed to arrive at an accurate diagnosis. He only works with a very select team of specialist radiologists to ensure high-quality scan interpretation. After diagnosis, he provides a clear, individualised treatment plan for his patients that considers their individual circumstances and their exercise/activity goals. He offers a wide range of treatment choices suited to each patient, including non-surgical options. His extensive experience allows him to diagnose and treat rarer conditions, and he is often sought out to provide second opinions. In his referral practice, he manages the most complex and challenging cases, such as hip and knee replacements that have failed and must be redone. Mr Sood runs a hip and knee unit at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and has earned three Clinical Excellence Awards for his work.
Mr Sood treats all lower limb sports injuries in athletes and weekend warriors and also has an interest in the treatment of tendon pain, especially tendinopathies.
Mr Sood graduated from Guys Hospital in 1992 and went on to train at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), where he became a clinical lecturer in the Professorial Unit. In 2004, he received additional specialist training in hip and knee surgery at two centres of excellence in North America: The Mayo Clinic and Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was mentored by two of the world's best hip and knee surgeons. He has worked in Specialist Consultant Practice since 2004.

Mr Sood was kind and efficient and recognised my concerns and carefully explained the options available.
This was my second hip replacement with Mr Sood and as with the first the very best outcome. his clear and engaging approach made me feel safe and cared for. I would trust him in any circumstances
Mr Sood explained the issue and told me what to do if it occurred again
Mr Sood is a real gentleman, who always makes you feel at ease. You can ask as many questions as you want (some of them very trivial) but he always answers with good humour, and seriousness when required! I felt that my recovery was assured because of his helpfulness and information he shared. My operation involved the replacement of my right hip and I was up and about the next day and walking with crutches very quickly. With the help of the nursing staff and the physiotherapists at the Manor Hospital, I recovered quickly - everyone, including Mr Sood, shared their thoughts on exercises at different times as the recovery progressed, so I felt I was doing the right things at the right times.
The overall experience was excellent extremely well looked after by staff very helpful and friendly.
My wife and I have been seeing Mr Sood for over 10 years, he is very experienced professional and we totally trust him.
Mr Sood is very knowledgeable and professional. His advice is clear and to the point. I consider him a real expert.
I first saw Mr Sood about 3 years ago. At that time we agreed that knee surgery was not urgent. Last October my knee became appreciably worse. My next consultation with Mr Sood in October 2025 was professional, precise and he took trouble to outline what I could expect from a total knee replacement. The surgery was carried out in February and has, so far, well exceeded my expectations. Mr Sood has at all time treated me with courtesy, respect and with the utmost professionalism.
Mr Sood was very professional and very clear speaking (which helps a lot when you're hearing is reduced, as mine is)
I have known Manoj of at least a decade and we have referred each other patients throughout that time as I am an upper limb surgeon and he is lower limb. I have been delighted with all the feedback I have had from his patients as well as seeing terrific outcomes myself.
