About Mr Matthew Simms

I have been a consultant urologist since 2006. Prior to this I trained in urology in the East Midlands and completed a Fellowship year at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne Australia, before settling in Yorkshire. I offer expertise in general urology, urological cancers and also have an interest in men's health and infertility. My NHS practice is based at Castle Hill Hospital where I am the Lead Clinician for urological cancers.

My wide experience means that I can offer an opinion in all aspects of urological care .

Qualifications

I qualiified with a distinction in surgery from the University of Sheffield in 1993. Having completed house jobs, I completed basic surgical training in Nottingham and then embarked on 2 years of full time research into bladder cancer. My higher urological training was undertaken in the East Midlands, culminating in a one year Fellowship in Melbourne, Australia in urological cancer and general urology. I was appointed as a consultant urologist in Hull in 2006. I have also completed mini Fellowships in Mansoura, Egypt, focusing on bladder reconstruction, and New York Presbyterian Hospital where I focused on microsurgery and male infertility. I am a very experienced urologist and have one of the highest volume and widest urological operative practices in Yorkshire.
