Oesophagogastric cancer surgery, surgery for obesity (bariatric surgery) and surgery for functional upper GI disorders such as gastro-oesophageal reflux. In addition to these he undertakes acute general gastrointestinal surgery and surgery for hernias and gallbladder / biliary surgery. The vast majority of his practice is undertaken using laparoscopic surgical techniques.

Academic Background:

Mr Halstead read Medicine at Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge and completed clinical school training at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. He then trained in both cardiothoracic surgery and general surgery (specialising in upper gastrointestinal tract surgery) in Oxford, Cambridge, London, New York and Leeds. He passed the FRCS part III examination in upper gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary surgery in February 2008 and has been a consultant surgeon at Bradford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since October that year.
