Mr Ian Smith

Mr Smith is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon at The Yorkshire Clinic, Bingley, near Bradford and Leeds, and over 25 years of experience as a consultant at a major NHS teaching hospital in West Yorkshire. (Bradford)

Alongside his clinical practice, he is actively involved in teaching, supervising and training the next generation of doctors and surgeons, including ENT surgical trainees, general practitioners and medical students.

His particular clinical interests include nose and sinus conditions, recurrent tonsillitis, hearing and balance disorders, throat problems, and thyroid and neck conditions. He has performed thousands of tonsillectomies and extensive experience in endoscopic sinus surgery and thyroid and parathyroid surgery.

Mr Smith is a core member of the regional thyroid and endocrine multidisciplinary team, including the thyroid cancer multidisciplinary team, contributing to the specialist assessment and management of patients with thyroid disease and thyroid cancer.

He believes in providing patients with a thorough assessment, clear explanations and treatment tailored to their individual needs. 

His approach is to help patients understand their condition and make informed decisions about their care, whether this involves medical treatment or surgery.
