Mr. MacDonald is a Consultant Urologist with over a decade of experience in urology tre. He sees private patients at the Nuffield Health Warwickshire Hospital and the BMI Meridian Hospital.

Mr MacDonald was educated at Cambridge, where he won a senior scholarship at Caius College, and Oxford where he won the John B Pearce Memorial Prize in Surgery. Following house jobs in Oxford and Leeds he returned to Cambridge to teach anatomy, before basic surgical training at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School in London. Two years of research into novel bladder cancer diagnostics t University College London was rewarded with the Guy Baines Gold Medal. His specialist urological training took place in the Midlands and the Urology and Nephrology Centre, Mansoura, Egypt.

Since appointment he has introduced Da Vinci robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP), prostate mapping biopsy and orthotopic neobladder surgery. UHCW is a National Reference Centre for MRI-TRUS fusion biopsy.

Upon completion of his training, Mr. MacDonald was appointed Consultant Urological Surgeon at the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.

Mr MacDonald and the team have replicated the methods of the Martini Klinik Hamburg in prospectively assessing patient outcomes to relentlessly improve the quality of care.

He is the Chair of Arden Urology National Site Specific Group, leading Urological Cancer Services for Warwickshire. He is the Chair of the UHCW Robotic Surgery Group - ensuring the safe and efficient development of one of the most diverse robotic surgical units in the country.
