Mr Devesh Misra is an experienced Consultant Paediatric GI
Surgeon and Urologist wth over 34 years of experience. He treats children with
gastro-intestinal and urinary disorders at Cromwell hosp, Nuffield Holly hosp,
Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood and Spire London East Hospital.
Mr Misra undertook training in paediatric surgery in Nottingham and at the Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, London. In 1995, he was appointed as a consultant at the Royal London Hospital.
He has performed over 2000 operations each in the following conditions: circumcisions, hernias, undescended testes, and hydroceles. In addition, in his clinic, he sees children with severe constipation, UTIs (urine infections), tight foreskins, undescended testes, wetting problems, hernias, hydroceles, lumps and bumps, abdominal pain, vomiting and gastric reflux, and infants diagnosed with hydronephrosis before birth.
He has the unique distinction of having described a new surgical operation- Surface Umbilical Pyloromyotomy - under his name back in and over 800 cases have been performed till date.
He has published one of the world's largest single surgeon series in complex Scrotal hypospadias. (J Paed Surg, 2019)
He published a new classification of Mega-rectum in ARM where he had observed 4 distinct sub-types over the last 25 years. Also led strategies to lower the incidence of this complication, with the incidence of megarectum dropping from 26% before 2013, to only 4% thereafter. (Paed Surg Internat, 2020)
He published his own innovations in urethral fistula surgery over a 24 year period. No patient needed more than 2 surgeries for cure, a world first. (Paed Surg Internat 2022)
He also published his own innovations in neonatal oesophageal surgery (OA TOF) where over a 22 year period he had no anastomotic leaks, another world first. (Ind J Ped Surg, Dec 2022)

His research thesis on "DNA ploidy in Wilms' tumour" remains the largest study published on the subject till date.
