Mr David Rowlands

Mr David Rowlands is an experienced consultant gynaecologist of over 35 years experience, advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgeon, and advanced endometriosis surgeon. He works privately at Spire Murrayfield Hospital. He has recently decided to leave the NHS due to NHS waiting times so that he can give patients a more personal and timely service. He has worked at Wirral University Teaching Hospital for over 25 years as a senior consultant gynaecologist. Hi emphasis is on the personalisation of each woman's care.

Mr Rowlands's specialist areas are endometriosis, menopause, colposcopy, hysteroscopy, prolaose, post meopausal bleeding and menorrhagia (heavy periods). He focuses on benign gynaecology with an emphasis on personalised care and , if surgical, laparascopic surgery including excisional therapy for endometriosis, hysterectomy, myomectomy, and advanced hysteroscopic surgery. He also has more than 35 years of clinical experience in uterovaginal prolapse, abnormal cervical smears, irregular or heavy periods, and menopause conditions.

Mr Rowlands is one of only a few consultants that are accredited by the RCOG as an advanced laparoscopic surgeon, and he has been invited to speak at national and international gynaecological meetings regarding minimal access surgery. He also trains advanced laparoscopic surgeons and was an honorary lecturer at the University of Liverpool.

As well as being a senior gynaecologist Mr Rowlands was Associate MedicalDirector for strategy and partnership for Wirral University Teaching Hospital (emphasing the importance he places on integrated healthcare working), having previously been the Executive Medical Director before stepping down to focus on clinical work. He is also currently clinical lead for Maternity for the NW Coast NHS Strategic Clinical Network, and Chair of the Clinical Reference Group for National Specialised Commissioning of Women's Services. He is also currently Chair of the NW Clinical Leaders Network and a Board Member of the National Clinical Leaders Network.
