Mr Christopher Thorn

Mr Christopher Thorn is a Consultant General, Laparoscopic and Colorectal Surgeon. He qualified from the University of London and trained in general surgery in Leeds and London. He undertook two fellowships at St. Mark's Hospital, a world-renowned centre for intestinal and colorectal disorders, and specialised in complex colorectal diseases and laparoscopic surgery. Mr Thorn was awarded an MD degree from the University of Leeds for his research on the genetic profile of colorectal cancer.

Mr Thorn specialises in lower GI surgery and sees patients with a range of gastrointestinal problems. He has a keen interest in the treatment of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, functional bowel disease (prolapse and incontinence), gallbladder disease, abdominal wall hernias, anal pathologies (fissure, fistula, haemorrhoids).

Mr Thorn is actively involved in research and education. He is particularly interested in enhanced recovery after colorectal surgery and perioerative scoring systems and has co-authored a number of research and review papers. Mr Thorn is a member of council for the EFISDS and has lectured and taught laparoscopic skills both nationally and internationally.
