My son (10yrs old), was directed to Ben Hartley and his team, after having an operation previously postponed at the last minute, which affected his mental health. He had a “benign tumour” on his left cheek, by his ear, so understandably he was worried about the whole process, he is autistic which can magnify situations, but he was dealt with professionally, efficiently and put at ease by the consultant and his team during both the pre-assessments and operation day. The consultant talked us through what would happen and when, and the nurses were very attentive and supportive, they kept the whole experience positive for my son. I cannot fault the standard of service, it really was second to none! Thank you.

Mr Hartley performed my daughter’s tonsil and adenoid surgery and we could not have been more impressed with him or the care we received throughout. From our very first consultation, he was warm, reassuring and incredibly thorough. He took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of our questions and immediately gave us complete confidence that our daughter was in the best possible hands. The whole process was also exceptionally well organised. Everything was arranged quickly and efficiently in conjunction with the Portland and his colleague Dr Phil Cunnington, the most amazing anaesthetist, all of which made an enormous difference at what could otherwise have been a stressful time for us as parents. His secretary, Angela, was absolutely wonderful throughout. She was responsive, kind, helpful and seemed to have an almost Jedi-like ability to make the practical side of arranging everything feel completely seamless. On the day of the surgery, Mr Hartley’s manner with both our daughter and us was exceptional. He combined enormous professionalism and expertise with genuine kindness and empathy, which made the whole experience feel remarkably calm and manageable. The procedure went extremely well and the care and follow-up we received were excellent throughout. As parents, there is very little more important than trusting the person looking after your child, and we felt completely comfortable placing our daughter in Mr Hartley’s care.
