Mr Andrew Murphy is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon.
Mr Murphy qualified in Medicine from the University of Bristol in 1992. Following surgical training in Bristol, Bath, and Plymouth, Mr Murphy was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998. Mr Murphy undertook higher surgical training at Southampton University Hospital and was awarded a higher Fellowship in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in 2003. They undertook senior specialist fellowships in orthopaedic surgery, knee surgery, joint replacement surgery, trauma surgery and sports injuries. Mr Murphy has also been awarded two national surgical awards: the RCSEd/Ethicon Travelling Fellowship and the BESS European Travelling Fellowship.
Mr Murphy has held Sports Medicine posts including Finish Line Physician, Hawaii Ironman Triathlon 1991; Medical and Doping Officer, British Triathlon Association 1992-2002; Team Physician, UK Triathlon team 1996-2002; and Medical Director, Commonwealth Games Triathlon, Manchester 2002.
Mr Murphy is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, British Elbow and Shoulder Society and British Trauma Association.
