Mr Amir Khan

Mr Amir Khan is a highly experienced Consultant Surgeon with private practices at Spire Little Aston Hospital, The Priory Hospital, and Nuffield Health Wolverhampton Hospital. His specialist interests are vascular surgery, obesity, weight loss surgery and laparoscopy (key-hole surgery). Mr Khan is particularly experienced in weight loss surgery and has performed thousands of weight loss surgeries including gastric bypass, gastric balloon, gastric band, and gastric sleeve. He also performs re-do weight loss surgery for patients with weight regain and complications, in addition to the new intra-gastric Ellipse balloon, which does not require an invasive procedure.

Mr Khan obtained his specialist surgical training on the South West London Specialist Programme, obtaining post-certification experience at the University of Tokyo Hospital and St James University Hospital, Leeds, before taking up his consultant post at the Marsden. Throughout his career, his clinical and research interests have focused on minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery and surgical oncology on which he has lectured nationally and internationally. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and participated in national trials on pioneering treatments.

Mr Khan is part of the select panel of clinicians nominated to draw up national guidelines for the management of cystic pancreatic tumours. He has extensive clinical expertise, including Laparoscopic Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery, Pancreatic Surgery, Surgery for reflux, gallstone disease, hernia surgery, and Surgical Oncology, including GIST and neuroendocrine tumours.
